TLS 0.40.5 Public Release

I should probably have taken two weeks for this public release. One week was barely enough to iron out all the bugs and inconsistencies from an update this complex, and I'm very grateful to the patrons who went above and beyond to help me with it. But this update needs more than simple testing/fixing - there have been some good suggestions about adding new elements or shifting balance that will simply require more time to implement.

However, I failed to signal the possibility of a two week wait clearly enough, and I don't want to delay the release until people are busy around the holiday season. So the update is going public, but please be aware of the following:

WARNING: While this update should be a smooth and bug-free experience, it is NOT the final version. Patrons have suggested subjective changes that I think would be improvements and we will need to tweak the balance further.

TLS 0.40.0
 - New content finishing the Council of Gawnfall.
 - One new scene.
 - Misc fixes on previous sections in preparation for the Steam release.

TLS 0.40.1-5
 - Wrestling with the scope of the event.

I hope people enjoy the update, but please be understanding when I need to take some time to continue improving it. Though providing regular releases is a high priority to me, my ultimate goal is to make TLS the best game that I can manage.

If after playing the update, you have ideas for additional content during the summit, feel free to make suggestions! I will not be massively changing things, but as an example, some patrons suggested that the second half of the summit could use more minor speakers for flavor. Another notable suggestion was that Zirantia could have a representative to speak on international issues. Anything that will make the summit feel like a richer event.

I intend this summit to be the most complex political segment of the game, and I may have gone a bit overboard, but I hope that it is part of a satisfying overall experience that reacts to your choices in nuanced ways. Thanks to everyone for following the development of TLS.

TLS 0.40.0 Released!

TLS 0.40.0
 - New content finishing the Council of Gawnfall.
 - One new scene.
 - Misc fixes on previous sections in preparation for the Steam release.

Running a little ragged, so not sure what to say. This update wraps up a long and complex section, hopefully in a satisfactory way. I can't completely guarantee we'll have it ready for public release in a week, but patrons managed it quick last time, so it's possible.

TLS 0.39.2 Public Release

TLS 0.39.2
 - Numerous balance changes, on average making the vote requirements easier.
 - New/improved Kerannii expressions thanks to Bug Reporting.
 - Improved musical tracks thanks to Lamsey.
 - High Priestesses have been added to the waiting room for those who want to check influence scores again.

TLS 0.39.3
 - Minor changes. Only doing a release to clear up the fade bug.

Here's the public version of the Council! Lots of politicking, now in refined form. ^-^ While this version of the council should be a bit more forgiving and more nuanced, I still can't promise this is 100% final balance. I did my best, though.

Not a lot else to say. Hope you enjoy - I will be back to working! Expect the rest of the council as well as some other fun things in time.

TLS 0.39.0 Released!

New update for patrons! Version history updated, you know what to do, etc.

TLS 0.39.0
 - New update covering the first three days of the Ivalan summit.
 - Initial lamia battler swapped with improved version (thanks to Decanter for finding it).
 - Retroactively added custom sprite/bust/face for Vera (priestess of the Goddess of Magic). This is thanks to Bug Reporting, who also did the new characters this update.

TLS 0.39.1
 - Difficulty of the second vote has been reduced.
 - In addition, it received a special last ditch option to prevent unwinnable games.
 - Key bug that made Vote 5B too difficult is fixed.
 - The usual bugfixing and polishing.

Alright, I've done what I think is best for the game: split the summit into two parts. This way I can keep up release momentum as well as get feedback on some of the new things I'm trying with this update. It will be reminiscent of the Ardford Summit, but with this one I put the emphasis on social manipulation. Hopefully with some tweaking, this will be a fun addition to the game.

This update isn't a trivial one, though! It introduces all the High Priestesses you hadn't met before in addition to some important characters from other religious factions. In the votes covered by this update, you'll lead the religious situation on Arclent in one of several major directions, which will have a permanent impact on the world.

Because this update is a bit experimental, I have no idea what to say about when it will be released publicly. This blog is the place to check for major updates, while the progress will be focused on Patreon.

New Games + TLS Info

Steam has approved pages for two of my upcoming games! Some of these won't be released until far in the future, but if you want a sneak preview of some of what I'll be working on, please check out the pages here:

TLS will also be coming to Steam, but it will take extra work and draw time away from creating more. I want to release it at a time when it won't slow progress down too much, like a lull between updates. So it won't arrive on Steam just yet, as I'm focused on TLS 0.39.0.

This update is another one that will be more complex than usual, and it's taking longer than average. To tide people over, my most recent Patreon post includes a preview of all seven High Priestesses and some other characters who will play a role.

But I wanted to check in with blog readers as well to update you guys on the situation. My intent is for this to be one of the longest and most complex sequences of the game. I worry about getting the level of complexity right, so I may release it in two updates instead of one to get feedback from everyone. More info as I decide which way will produce the best update and result in the least time lost overall.

TLS 0.38.2 + Crimson Gray 1.5!

 - New section of the plot with a bunch of followup to last update's reveal.
 - New round of investing and research available.
 - Several new mini-dungeons and another option unlocked.

TLS 0.38.1-2
 - Minor polishing and bugfixing.

There weren't too many bugs found in this one, so all that's new in the public release are some minor fixes, improved dialogue, etc. I'm putting it out early in honor of the new Crimson Gray release, which should be coming out later today:

I'm glad this project is finally released! At minimum, it provides a nice coda for Lizzie and John's story together, plus it let me write from Lizzie's POV, which I enjoyed. ^-^ I hope you will at least consider taking a look at the game!

Those who have played the TLS update will know what the next update is about. It will be large and complex, so I'm not sure how long it will take to finish. But with Crimson Gray 1.5 releasing soon and some other things winding down, I should have more time to devote to it. See you next time!

Crimson Gray: Dusk and Dawn - coming this weekend!

I've cleared the final hurdles, so I hope for the next Crimson Gray to be released this weekend! Please do check out the page if you're interested:

I'm really crossing my fingers on this one, so wish me luck. >.< But at worst, I hope it will be an enjoyable little experience that leaves Lizzie and John with a longer conclusion than the original story.

To be clear, this weekend will be a double release: the public version of TLS 0.38.x is coming out at the same time! Two at once isn't ideal, but I didn't want to delay the finished VN or make you guys wait on the TLS update. This one was pretty stable, so 0.38.2 should be in well-polished condition.

TLS 0.38.0 Released!

This has been a weird, eventful month. =/ I have done a ton of stuff that is sitting in the pipeline, enough that I worry about it all coming out around the same time and getting disorganized. For a start, I hope to release the mini-sequel to Crimson Gray early next month. It's been polished and tested by patrons, but to release it properly I need to gear up for all the non-creative work that involves.

For right now, I'm more interested in continuing with creative work. That includes a variety of things, but it definitely includes this TLS update! This one has some key developments that follow up on the last update, particularly some lore people have been speculating on for a while, as well as an indication of where the story is going next version. It's going to be a ton of work, but I've been looking forward to this section for a long time. ^-^

TLS 0.37.3 Public Release

TLS 0.37.3
 - Further bugfixes and refinements.
 - The major change is that making Altina's custom weapon now grants affection where it didn't before.

This version received more polishing than most, so I hope people find the Stenai update challenging but fair.

After this, I am going to have to deal with some things. You will see some new announcements over the coming month and an older project will release. I hope that these will not delay the release of 0.38.0 too much. It will be a shorter update dealing with the aftermath of the Stenai event, and will include new investment returns and new research options.

TLS 0.37.0 Released!

 - Stenai update covering the next section of the game.
 - Four new scenes.
TLS 0.37.1
 - Several changes made to make the switch puzzles easier and clearer.
 - All party members' base lines changed after the Stenai events. NPCs around the world have NOT yet changed.
 - Some new unique sprites thanks to Bug Reporting.
 - Music issues fixed thanks to Lamsey.
 - Bugfixing and polishing, as always.

After working on this update for so long, strangely I don't have many comments about it. I got to run more of my test saves through it, so hopefully there aren't too many bugs, but I could always have introduced more while adding more content at the end and fixing other things. I hope everyone enjoys exploring Stenai!

As a general reminder, please consider that time zones may make dates given online differ for you. I'm glad that people are enthusiastic about the game, but on the day of release I am trying to focus and check over the content one more time. Please check the timestamps of past releases before sending me messages.

TLS 0.36.2 Public Release

I wasn't sure about making this version public, as it's a small update between larger ones, but I received a very heartfelt message from a fan who was apparently really looking forward to this one. Thanks to her, everybody gets the update now. ^-^ Just be aware that this one is a "rest" update to spend time with your party and see consequences of your actions during the war.

The next release will be the big Stenai update, which I am very eager to bring everyone. It will be larger than a normal update, but I'm doing my best to launch straight into it and hopefully I'll be able to finish it in good time.

In other news, my games are on sale starting today. Do check them out on Steam and Notably, on Steam I'm reducing Ouroboros to its lowest price to date, so this would be a good time to give it a try if you have been waiting.

TLS 0.36.0 Released!

New update for patrons! Version history updated, you know what to do, etc.

TLS 0.36.0
 - Small update laying the groundwork for the Stenai update.
 - Three new scenes added.
 - New synergy skill for Aka and Uyae.
 - There is now a merchant in the slums that sells Yhilini orc equipment, once Yhilin has reached its final state.
 - Based on player requests, there is a new option for training orcs in the courtyard, a group that has very high HP.
 - An autosave script has been added thanks to Decanter. Comment if you want it to save after battles in addition to its current behavior.

TLS 0.36.1
 - Refinements and bugfixing.
 - There are new monsters and conversations when returning to the old war locations. Grubbak now reacts to the war events.
 - Assorted minor additions around the world. These are probably not worth tracking down, but I hope they make the game seem more alive and responsive overall.

This isn't the biggest update in the world, but it's the best I have to offer given circumstances. I do think it's a nice little interlude with the characters and it clears out the content I wanted finished before I embarked on the Stenai update. That one will be a much larger update that I look forward to showing everyone.

Dusk and Dawn + TLS Update + Fanart

Three things to talk about today! First, Steam has approved the page for the sequel to Crimson Gray, subtitled Dusk and Dawn:

If you are interested in seeing more of the story of Lizzie and John, please do check it out! I'm not sure exactly when this VN will be released (sometime later this year), but if you want to be informed when it comes out, please add it to your wishlist.

Second, we have more fanart for TLS, this time featuring Nalili! You can see it on my HentaiFoundry or Tumblr.

Finally, an update about TLS 0.36.0: the next update will be a smaller one, with some scenes and development but not the next major chunk of the plot. The reason for this is that I don't want to cram these additional things into the Stenai update, which will deserve 0.37.0 all to itself. I'm really not sure about the public release of this one; it will depend on various factors.

TLS 0.35.6 Public Release

TLS 0.35.7 [7/2/18]
 - Blade of Lust XP bug fixed.
 - Several cases where it was possible to not get credit for all your actions fixed.
 - Misc polishing.

TLS 0.35.6 [6/29/18]
 - More polishing.
 - The Dwarren Embassy investment now benefits the Aramite Tower section.
 - Wynn gets RP from the Zirantian Tower segment, Sarai from Yhilin's.
 - Dari is now visible during the ritual. This change is purely cosmetic, but I know some wanted it. ^-^
 - Nalili's Blade of Lust skill now counts as defeating an enemy (thanks to Decanter for assistance).
 - Fixed music and looping thanks to Lamsey.
 - The game now has a custom executable icon thanks to BetatesterFP.

That is more changes to a final build than I'm usually comfortable with, so I hope nothing was broken at the last second. That said, this version has a lot of polish previous builds didn't have and I think the balance of the event should be solid.

TLS 0.35.2 + Steam Dev Page

As mentioned, this update will take two weeks of testing. When it takes longer than normal, usually I release it for all patrons, including those at lower tiers. Meanwhile, I'm making a post here to talk about something else.

Steam just launched a new feature: creator pages. It seems to tie into the curator/groups features, so it's not perfect, but I still consider this a significant good thing. The main benefit is that it lets someone follow you as a creator instead of following individual games, which is much more useful given how Steam treats new games.

While I will keep posting updates on my blog, if you want information about my games directly on Steam, these pages should have something to offer you. For example, it would let you know how everything is on sale on Steam right now - I don't like to spam the blog with things like that.

TLS 0.35.0 Released!

New update for patrons! Version history updated, you know what to do, etc.

TLS 0.35.0
 - Large new section covering the war with Erosia.
 - Two new plot scenes.

Those notes make this update seem small, but I don't think it is! Hopefully everyone will get at least an hour of playtime, ideally more. This is a "mini-war" but it's a big event that has some of everything, so I hope everyone will enjoy it. ^-^

Having said that, this one will be difficult to balance. It will almost certainly take two weeks, but I hope everyone will agree it's worth it in the end. If you want to whet your appetite, you can find some screenshots of the update here.

Ouroboros on Steam!

You guys have been requesting this, and I finally did it: Ouroboros is out on Steam!

Anybody who wants to try the game out, this is a good chance! The Steam price plus intro sale is cheaper than any previous sale. And if you do play, please leave a review! A game like this that isn't the flashiest and operates based on an unusual mechanism and plot twist really relies on ratings and word of mouth to be found by other people.

Having said that, Ouroboros is an old title. Now that I've gotten it out as promised, I'll have more time to focus on future projects.

TLS 0.34.2
 - The threshold for Dari has been lowered somewhat.
 - There is now an event to upgrade Hilstara's Helm at the succubus armorer, if you funded her. I don't want to go overboard with upgrades like this, but patrons made some good suggestions on this one.
 - There are conversations on the statues in the new dungeon. I had meant to include these earlier but they got lost in the shuffle.
 - More bugfixes and polishing.

 - More polishing.
 - The main reason I uploaded another one was to reduce the requirement for maxing Iris. Note that this won't take effect unless you reach 40 before a new cycle of profits.

TLS 0.34.0 Released!

New update for patrons! Version history updated, you know what to do, etc.

TLS 0.34.0

New Content:
 - New section of the plot.
 - Four new plot scenes, six new affection scenes.
 - Uyae can join the harem.
 - If you did the transformation research, Dari can finally be cured. With enough relationship points, she can also join.
 - Bar miniquest. Visiting most bars in the game will trigger an Orcent conversation (nine added).

 - The requirements to max Iris have changed. She is now locked at 99 until you have invested a significant amount in the Chalice States. If you already maxed her in the past, there will be no change.
 - Riala now comments on the current research project.
 - The head Unsuccubus reports on your base's stats.
 - Thanks to Lamsey, there is an updated map of Arclent showing the new nations! You can find it in the teleportation room.

I wanted to get Ouroboros out on Steam, but that's not happening yet. I don't want to delay TLS unnecessarily, so I'm putting 0.34.0 out now. I should note upfront that I worry about 0.35.0 taking longer than normal, but meanwhile, please enjoy this update! This one answers some questions that people have been wondering about for a while.

But I know people really play this game for the hawt, sexy philosophical discussions. I finally implemented a miniquest where visiting various bars around the world with Orcent will give scenes that include spicy personal reflections, naughty character development, and taboo theological discussions. Get it now before Patreon bans me!

 - Names added to the candidate display.
 - Minor balance change.
 - Assorted bugfixing and polishing.

TLS 0.33.2
 - Further bugfixing.

TLS 0.33.3
 - Further fixes and refinements.
 - Party order is now saved when switching between the two groups thanks to Decanter.
 - It isn't commonly known, but TLS can be played with a controller. Decanter added a script that ties text skipping to L1, which means you should be able to do anything with a controller you can do with a keyboard.

TLS 0.33.4
 - Party order saving bug is fixed. If you have a bugged save, cycle through both parties and it should be fixed.

TLS 0.33.0 Released!

New update for patrons! Version history updated, you know what to do, etc.

TLS 0.33.0
 - New section of the plot introducing the succession crisis.
 - One new plot scene.
 - There are a bunch of improvements done by Decanter. These notably include improved Stineford succubus faces, new quest log entries for quests in older sections that people found confusing, and numerous visual improvements.

We are back to normal with a linear plot update that builds on all the choices you've been making in the open world section of the game! The party is split between Ardford and New Givini to engage in some politics, in a way that TLS hasn't done before. Hopefully it will be fun!

This one should be out in the normal week. You'll also be seeing some other things from me, like the Steam release of Ouroboros, but first this TLS update!

Desecration of Wings releasing on March 16!

You guys would not believe how much I had to go through with Steam to finally get the approval. -_- I could complain, but let's focus on the positive: the game is coming out soon!

Business Month

Busy days, everyone. I'm getting some creative work done, but this is one of those unfortunate periods where the other parts of the job slow down the aspects I love best. But a few of the things I've done are positive, and I'm here to talk about those!

I've begun putting up all the TLS fanart that I've received in collected locations. You can find them at either Hentai Foundry or Tumblr:

There are already a decent number up (pending approvals, anyway), but there are more to post! I may also have a short story to post eventually.

Pretty soon, it will finally be time to launch Desecration of Wings. This project is a really old one, basically as old as TLS. Its route to getting finished has been weird and involved a lot of rewriting, but I'm happy that it's finally coming out! You can check it out here:

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the process to get the game on Steam will be as simple as I'd hoped. I'm committed to making it available to everyone in uncensored form, but it may end up being time-consuming. =/

I don't like these periods where I have to spend time on preparation, promotion, and other stuff, but they're necessary for this to be a career instead of a hobby. DoW will be coming out soon, with more content than many TLS updates. Then, after that, more TLS!

TLS 0.32.0 Released!

Core Additions
- New extra-dimensional dungeon and advancement of plot.
- One new plot scene.
- New slate of research unlocked.
Unlockable Content
- It is now possible to finish Yhilin, transforming it into a state where succubi and orcs have fully integrated.
- Janine can now join. One plot scene plus three affection scenes.
- Wynn can also join. One plot scene plus three affection scenes.
- Altina now has a synergy skill.
- The reshaped form of Varia can now create her custom weapons.
Additions and Balance
- Substantial changes to the balance of the Givini Orc Merchant investment.
- Instead of revisiting the southern tunnels in Eustrin, there is a new tunnel area.
- The House of Petitions is open in Ari-Yhilina again, with second chances at certain discretionary funding investments you may have missed.
- There's an event when returning to the merchant camp.
- There's an event if you return to the shrine where you found Starke.
- New miniature quest in the Stineford region, starting in the succubus tower.

- An anti-crash script has been added that will hopefully cut down on RPG Maker instability.

 - You can now customize flowers in the training yard.

I hope this is the last really broad update and ones after that can be more plot-focused. Having said that, some of the pieces here have been long-awaited. ^-^

Also hope to be able to release publicly in a week, barring problems. My goal is to finish off all the minor side content I've deferred in the past, so as to focus more on new plot segments. Anyway, enjoy!

I have just made last week's 2017 in Review post public. Please do read if you are interested in my reflections on the past year as well as an indicator of my focuses for this one.

One thing I want to say unavoidably here: I am not sure how 2018 will go for TLS updates. It remains my primary project, and I hope to advance significantly closer to the end. However, based on the content that I intend to create and other impending events, I'm afraid the releases will be irregular.

I wouldn't do this if I didn't feel it was best for the game overall, but I understand some will be disappointed. In any case, I look forward to bringing you a lot of content in 2018!
