Finally, an update about TLS 0.36.0: the next update will be a smaller one, with some scenes and development but not the next major chunk of the plot. The reason for this is that I don't want to cram these additional things into the Stenai update, which will deserve 0.37.0 all to itself. I'm really not sure about the public release of this one; it will depend on various factors.

Shorter - it will be focused on politics and character interactions. I don't know when it will be released, but sooner this month rather than later.
DeleteI don't know maybe i will be wrong but will this part 36 will be talking to other npc and other stuff before we got to Stenai. Why not put that in the 35. That update to do everything in it was over 2 hours what will be if you had put 20 min more of it.And from that we could have 36 going and doing stuff in Stenai.I was really looking for going to Stenai and learning about that. I know a lot of other people who really are excited about the 2 princesses as i am maybe this is just because i love your game and i want more.

I could have put that content in 0.35.0, but that would have meant it was delayed further by a few weeks. Likewise, putting this content into a longer version 0.36.0 would delay it. I do the best I can, but it takes a certain amount of time for content to be finished no matter how it's divided.
DeleteThe question is what division makes the most sense. That's a subjective matter, and it's fine if people disagree with me on that. But for this set of three updates, I feel like the content I'm planning for 0.36.0 would feel out of place if stuck into either of the other two.
I hope that explains my thinking on this subject at least a little.
Can we explore other areas in this patch or only get lead to the area we need to be.If we can explore will there be anything new after the war or just the same stuff as they were before.
ReplyDeleteYou'll be able to go anywhere, but only characters in the know will have new dialogue. There's an intro dialogue that tries to hint at who has changed.

DeleteI'm not sure what their exact behavior is? If they're claiming TLS is their own, then I would like to know about that. Is it possible that they're just posting links to the game on other sites? It's messier than I'd like, but TLS has unfortunately already been uploaded to various sites.

ReplyDeleteSierra posts links to his games on the site I mentioned although it's been awhile since he posted links to his updated TLS, I don't know if he still goes to that site or not but I left a few privet messages to him on that site explaining what is happening as well as a message to the site mods about the issue.

ReplyDeleteI'm not sure the person in question did not seem to be claiming TLS as his own also I'm not sure if he has uploaded a site where he get's paid per download, just thought I'd bring to your attention, I let one of the mods on Undertow know about it so you might want to have a talk with the mod of that sub forum.
If they aren't claiming it as their own, they may just be giving the game some free promotion. I will look into it further.

Hmm, cant wait for Stenai. That will be interesting if I recall previous interactions, and conflicts. I think Stabby Lady may be doin some shadowy stabbing in that update.

ReplyDeleteAs for the matter I mentioned to you I hope it works out for you, and you are welcome, that story on HF helps to flesh out the characters of TLS as well as giving more background info on the story/world and Simon's experiences in the war.
Sierra I have a suggestion, could you add an undying version of the sparring orcs? I have been wanting to experiment with different party compositions and buffed states but it's annoying to do so when the orcs are defeated so quickly.
ReplyDeleteIf you need a lore reason for it, you could say they are some failed orc spawns Balia collected that just happened to have regenerative qualities, which could be attributed to Stark (or to random chance if the player never recruited Stark).

If the game was written in UK English, you would be correct, but I'm afraid that you are misunderstanding American phrasing. In American English, "Let's see if we can't do something about that" can mean the same thing as "Let's see if we can do something about that".
DeleteIf you think there is a spelling mistake in the game, please include a screenshot or a complete description of the exact text and the location where it appears, but please be aware that the game is written in an American dialect.

I've noticed one instance where Qum actually referred to herself in first person: in the Crimson Cape, the first talk with the guy guarding private parties room, "Oh, I got it now!". Kinda curious now was that intentional or if Qum even supposed to always address herself in third? Didn't notice that anywhere else yet, despite it being my 3rd playthrough (talk about attention deficit).
And the second question: could you grant your permission for translating tls into other language, specifically, Russian? I just thought that freaking awesome masterpiece like this deserves recognition as wide as it can get and, since you distributing your game for free, I'd hoped it wouldn't come off as too outrageous of a request.
Regardless, let me thank you for a stunning experience with tls and express deep admiration for your storytelling talent.

ReplyDeleteNow that Steam is changing its policy towards adult content on its store, will/can you update the Steam version's base game to include the removed NSFW content and eliminate the need for the censorship patch? If you did, I would be inclined to buy a second copy on Steam out of convenience.

It will depend on what the policy looks like in practice. All we know right now is that Steam hasn't implemented the policy yet and that some developers who tried to publish under it have had their releases delayed indefinitely until Steam finishes. There's also the risk that any games that fall under this policy will be consigned to a ghetto of some kind.
DeleteUpdating old games would be good for the player experience, so I'd like to do it, but Steam doesn't have any method of contacting them for something like this and I'm afraid it might look like trying to skate under the radar. Given what they've said about increased scrutiny of NSFW games, I'd be nervous about getting removed.
So basically, I don't know. This change is probably a positive one, but I'm not going to celebrate until we see it in action.
