This was another weird development period, but I'm glad to finally present this build to you all. It includes the new challenge mentioned last post, plus a set of illustrated scenes you can find in the version history. Since this one took an extra week in Patreon testing, I hope that it's a more polished experience, but as always report bugs and other issues.

I still want to finish up this war event soon, but I am feeling fatigued. I need to take at least a little time to do other things, such as preparing the final version of Once Ever After for its release early next year. Other work has also fallen by the wayside a bit, so I hope to catch up on my life overall.

There's another sequence of major plot reveals coming up, but meanwhile, I hope you enjoy this game-play heavy challenge!

SURPRISE ANNOUNCEMENT: I now have a Discord server. I didn't intend to launch it now, but Patreon unexpectedly forced my hand. There are lots of patrons, but it could use members from the broader community if you want to join.

  1. Thanks for the version. The last one was "chef kiss" so I am jumping in emotion for this one. Again, thanks for all the hard work.

    1. This one is more of an interim challenge, but I hope that these three war updates will flow together well.

  2. Thank you for this intrigue update!

Very interesting patch one, making us start from zero and working our way up at this point of story. Didn't saw that one coming.

So Wendis is off to do something and the no-face man is still kicking, though I'll have to take what he said with the grain of salt, it's a bit frustrate as to how he still being all smug. Can't wait to crave his face in.

The battle overall is challenging but not too difficult I want to run off of cliff.

Get plenty of sleep, Sierra. You've earn more than that even.

  4. 7 years in the making now... Sort of expected it to be a completed game by now. Ever since i first stumbled upon this game, been waiting on its completion. I think its 6 years now since i started waiting. Keep it up man. Hopefully you get to finish it.

    Sincerely,

    1. If you haven't played at all, there are dozens of hours of finished content waiting for you! But yes, this one is a marathon, not a sprint. We're most of the way through the last chapter, but there's still more content yet to come.

  5. Sad that this came out after my day off so now I gotta wait a few more days to play it.

But MAJOR HYPE!! cause it sounds interesting.

Be sure to look after yourself and get some rest Sierra. You definitely deserve it after all your hard work. I'm definitely looking forward to Once Ever After too. Actually, I look forward to anything you release. XD

  6. Well damn, this new section was pretty brutal. I think I upped my save count by at least a hundred from this part alone. XD

Was the scene with Mestan moved to the new section? Cause I seem to recall it happening earlier. Or am I remembering it wrong? Either way... sadge... TT_TT

That said, it was a great fight all around. I was already in the second section before I thought to consider turning combat back to normal speed so I could see what kind of attacks the enemy did. Glad I did though, cause that really helped me out when it came to picking my equipment.

There were a fights that rely quite a bit on RNG going our way to get the high rolls on the damage, the low roll on the enemy damage, or both, to get through smoothly but nothing that's impossible despite the limited number of items available for use.

Not taking up the crystals probably played a part in the difficulty level but I may do another run of this section to see what happens if I accepted whatever those crystals were gonna give me.

I'm really pumped up for the next update, but do get some rest first. Working on your other projects should keep you from getting burned out with TLS. I can only imagine how hard it was making this section, especially with the balancing to make it doable with so few resources.

Looking forward to your next update, regardless of which of your works gets updated next.

    Stay healthy Sierra.

    1. Yes, Mestan's final scene was moved because I felt it had more time to breathe here.

This section was actually a nice break, with a lot of stat balancing instead of working through previous notes, but the next one will be right back to what TLS usually does. Don't worry, while I think it won't be too long before I get back to it, I'll only begin once I feel I have my best to give.

    2. The new dungeon was a very welcome and refreshing 'back to basics' thing. Watching the enemies moves, seeing what works best against them, finding any notable patterns, swapping equipment for best effect, etc... Honestly it feels so nostalgic since a lot of games these days can just have the player ignore the need for detailed planning just by grinding more levels.

Especially in that optional area with those really strong bosses. Took a lot of retries to work out each enemy's pattern (where applicable) and what kind of skills they could use.

And having only Simon to take them all on in one gauntlet run made it so much more satisfying to finish.

I'll definitely be looking forward to the next update, no matter how long I have to wait. (^_^)b

  7. Hi Sierra. I have a found a minor bug (perhaps two?)
    1. You can repeatedly enter and exit the dreamlike mine and earn 100xp each time.
2(?). The Dreamlike Ruin healing spot resets after each exit but the mine one does not.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. 1) Haha, the exit has two pages specifically to remove this, but I forgot to remove the XP part.

      2) They're all supposed to reset on exit, but the mine one doesn't due to the same exit issue.

  9. Finally finished !!!!! And dammnnnn it was hard. Now for the review.

    - Noooo, Mestaaannn !!!! Just after last time too !!! God damn it, a second critical right off the bat. But I do admit it makes more sense for them to be yeeted in there than finishing their discussion. Good fix.

    - This eerily reminded me of Ouroboros with the blank mind merchants, the (extremely) frequent deaths and return to the save points, the cycles, the game, and this looming presence of failures, regrets and deaths. Awesome music (like always).

    - I said a few updates ago, that with the end approaching, we could delay the final final secret hidden boss fight with some side quests, but you Sierra ! You made an entire side game within the game !!! Respect.

    - I loved the little comments that Simon made every few cycles back to the save points. "Since when have I started to talk out loud ? I... I can't remember." I can !!! It was fifty saves ago !!! XD I admit that at the end I started to cycle infinitely without saving just to read all the comments... And stopped quickly after noticing him starting to say "my soul is being drained, my feet bloody" etc. Poor Simon....

    - I should probably feel some pity for Nyst, but I put him down, all I could think was good riddance. Am I a bad person ?

    - About the Holy Crystals, I could totally see Simon starting to rant to the dumbass who stuck him there "How old do you think am I ? Five ? Why the hall would I accept a power who would change me when I am in a freaking prison ??!! If you wanted to help me, I wouldn't be stuck in here !!! Couldn't you make it more obvious that it was a trap ? Seriously ???!!!" Hahahaha, but yeah, honestly it was pretty obvious. I'm not touching that.

    - When Simon tried to get some shut eye and heard Qum, was it an hallucination, or is Qum mind stuck in here too after her sparkle overdose ? I hope not. I also hope she will be okay soon....

    - Eeeeehhh, Zelica is alive !!!! I was starting to worry about her since everyone said that contact with her was lost a while ago. She helped us and even got a little taste of Simon on the way hehehe ^^. But it reignites the problem ; there is not enough space to put her and Xestris in the harem !!! And Biyue too !!! Aaaaaahhhhh, you made too many good charcters, I wanna keep them all, nnnnoooo !!!!!! (Gotta catch them all....)

    - But yeah, it was insanely hard. After being used to trample on everything, even if it needed a little startegy, this hard nerf hurted. A lot. Swapping equipment, analyzing the ennemy weakness, even a little slip up meant losing a good amount of progress. Not gonna lie, it gave a rush of adrenaline (and a persistent headache). Thinking about it after the fact, the structure was similar to an optional dungeon, with saves restrictions. I easily broke my death counter each times I opened up the game these last following days XD

    1. - If I was the prison designer and really wanted to kill the Incubus Kings, I would have put a powerful Tower entity right at the spawn point before they could recover some skills and levels. Good fight he's not that sadistic.

      - So there is time dilation ? Ooof, I was starting to worry that when we get out, everyone would have died. Such a relief. And it also explain the hard nerf !!! Good job. Will there be long lasting consequences on Simon soul or something ? There will definitely be on his sanity, that's for sure.

      - It was nice that everyone was there. All helping and supporting him, all his deep connections with peoples who added their memory to protect him. It made me go on a nostalgia trip down memory lane, when he was all weak and alone. How much he have grown since then, it makes me proud. furthermore since I'm the one who did half, no a quarter of the work.

      - Will we have an explanation eventually about the prison ? How it was formed, what magical laws explain it or something. All I can say is that it was weird.

I don't see much else to add, except that Tanurak is an a**hole as always and that I'm not gonna trust him until it is verified, thank you very much. Although it stick with its nihilistic view.
      Have a good day/night !!!!

    2. Thanks for your thoughts, and glad to hear you enjoyed this one! It was aiming for a lot of different things, so it's good that so many of them hit for you.

Most of your questions were rhetorical, but I'll reassure you that Qum is not trapped. You see her next to Robin in the first scene and she is just asleep. ^-^

      Delete
    3. I was worried for nothing then. That's good ^^
      I'll add 2 things I've forgotten XD

-Although it was sad for Simon to pointlessly search Esthera, I agree with him that it's a good thing she didn't get swept up inside. We just cured her heavy depression, and spending years in such a dull place would have made her lose her mind. Still hard to see Simon all alone for decades ? Centuries ? More ?

      - After the Lustlord, it's good old Bloody who trapped his castle !!! He was a bearing wall !!! XD Does nobody read the Evil Overlord List ? "I will hire good architects so in the event of my death it doesn't collapse for no good reasons" Even worse, he set it on a crash course in "Bwwaaaaahhhh" mode hahahahaha. Bit of a shame we didn't get to keep the two fortress, but I guess it was too much of a strategical advantage to have. At least I had a good laugh Lol hahahaha

  10. Great update. I really like the whole "reset" thing that turns the battles from "just hit it with whatever until it dies" to experimenting and strategizing to see what hurts what. And I also like Simon's comments about the prison being strange. To me, it shows that, at heart, he's still that simple soldier from long ago who just tries to do what he thinks is best and that he hasn't become detached from everyone else.

Quick question; how do I get past the locked door in the human-style castle that's before Nyst?

    1. If I remember correctly, you obtain a key somewhere and you can use it to open the door (like a good normal key is intended for). Should be in Key items when you obtain it. As for the method, all hail the wiki !!!

    2. I most likely completely missed it. Just for context, I missed the first weapon available in he prison and was without a weapon until the rock.

    3. The key is in the Outskirts area, which is the forest in the third region. It should be easier to see than the first weapon, since it's on a green background.

  15. THe last two updates were so full of movement! Also that you used the Tower-Prison, to basicaly start a minigame, that was so tightly wrung that it was one big multilayered numbers-puzzle was brialiant :) Also a great dream-sequence in story-telling-terms. A good way to spice up the narrative.

What was sad, that Assassin-Boy died, because Simon did not fuck him. He also did not get to hook-up with Aka. I really hoped that the story leaves the heterosexual power-fantasy, and challanged Soimon in a way to homosexual contact in order to increase his shard-power or whatever.

The same went that the Harem-members do not seem to have sex with a man other than Simon, but with other females. I feel that is ust power-fantas pandering, and Simon himself would want them to have sex with other men, if they so desired.

But hey, maybe you are still setting up to these things I am wishing for right now.
But maybe you wont, because too many players would get upset to read it. I understand that you want to avoid that, if thats the case.

    1. We're getting close to the end, so I'm bringing all the pieces together! The next update will continue the tone, but after that we'll settle back for some character-focused harem quest updates before the final climactic sequence.

The game is pretty deep into power fantasy territory, in my opinion. Simon as a character has no problem with his partners sleeping with other men, but the audience predominantly isn't, so the game just skirts around the idea that they don't want to. Though the game has a few surprises left, don't expect them to relate to the core fetishes.

      Delete
    2. In a similar vein (at least to what relates to the core themes of the game), do you have any plans to further elaborate on how the main cast plans to live with their immortality and how they will adapt to it? I appreciate that TLS is going for a more optimistic approach on the subject than DoW, but to me the subject has been feeling a bit neglected to the point where the approach of the characters is starting to feel a bit naive.

I haven't replayed the game in a while now so I'm sorry if I'm a bit iffy on the details, but I think so far the gist of how Simon and the harem have thought it out has been "we'll have each other and all the time in the world to figure it out", which while I think is a good starting point to get people over the initial concerns and on board with the idea, doesn't really constitute a plan. And yet it feels like that's what the characters have settled on for a long time now (at least since the start of chapter 4 iirc).

There have been a few conversations since then on the subject of immortality, like the Wendis x Orcent one, but that felt more like a "not every character will get immortality, so here is a potential way of not feeling too bummed out for the likable side-characters that won't" conversation rather than further developing what it will mean for the main cast. I had hoped the shard-gifting conversations would maybe expand on that, but from the ones I remember they felt mostly focused on the gratitude of the receiver and the reasoning for having chosen them, ocasionally mentioning they will have to rethink somethings but still just further deferring any specifics. I've been wanting for a conversation that delves deeper, something akin to the age conversation with Yarra in chapter 2 where Simon seemed to imply he originally would have contemplated suicide once he had achieved his goals with the shard and once his loved ones had passed away.

There is a fine line between giving intellectually satisfying rationalizations and being a killjoy, so I understand if there are no plans to go too deep on the exploration of immortality since it could conflict with the power fantasy and other core fetishes of the game. I feel a deeper exploration of immortality affects even some of the things Robba mentioned, to me the connection between "fidelity" and "exclusivity" becomes even more tenous once we start discussing an immortal lifespan, but such a conversation would conflict with the core fetishes.

      Delete
    3. The previous question was familiar, but this one actually surprises me. I've given a large amount of thought to how the characters will interact with immortality, but I guess it hasn't made its way into the game. There are definitely plans for the characters to talk about their plans toward the end of the game. It isn't so much that they aren't thinking about it as the fact that they're dealing with huge threats that might mean there's no immortal ending for any of them.

      Delete
    4. Sweet! I'm excited to see how you will explore the subject.

I understand that the characters are still facing significant threats and ultimately they cannot take anything for granted just yet, but at the same time I don't feel the story progression of chapter 4 happens under a constant sense of urgency, so I think that there wouldn't be much harm in adding some content retroactively, specially if there will be a plurality of approaches in how they plan out their immortal lifespan.

Either way, thanks for the reply and the great work that you do Sierra, looking forward to see how the endgame of TLS will play out!

  16. It's been what a few months? a Year? since I last touched this game I think the last time I truly touched this game was back during the end of the 2nd Incubus King Fight? I took a big break from the game mainly since I was caught up with everything and wanted to have time to come back to another big update, in the meantime my Fiancee at the time was looking for a fun little indie game we could maybe do together and i suggested her this one and on and off we would play this together with her playing it me and watching over her shoulder and it was amazing to go through with that while it lasted.

Well back to being a single pringle and life is back to being normal again i couldn't help but miss this amazing world and stuff and found myself thinking of the characters and everything and well. Now that it seems like the game is starting to head to a close you are adding CG's the game is on Steam of all places wow fucken congratz Sierra.

I just got off of work so ya know what time it is? Time to spend the next two days just loving this amazing game again that i found so long ago when it was still just Simon figuring out his routes. Just like ususal I'm going to do as full on of a **Normal** playthrough as possible and then doing my usual 2nd play through where I'll just mess away with the characters, the files and bugs to see if there is anything out there that I may have missed? something that could need patching or just all in all. Just fun and junk that 1 can do once they cleared the game normally. Either way I'll get back with ya with a updated reivew

    1. You mean the end of the Erosian War? If you mean that far back, you have quite a bit of content to look forward to, but even if you mean the second Gathering, TLS should have some fun new stuff.

Anyway, I'm glad the game can be an enjoyable reprieve for you!

      Delete
    2. Indeed I believe the last time I had touched this game was at the end of the Erosian War or whenever the next "arc" of the game was released but only in the fact that you time skipped. Whichever was latest at that point ( I just recall getting a certain restriction for a certain potty mouth removed and enjoying the fruits of that) but other then that

I have to say I am starting a week late in the lp though that's for sure haha something else ended up getting my attention for the while sadly but I have to say I been playing it whenever i could. Currently 31 ish hours in and I'm just nearing where the Third War begins so I am no where near the new content but I did just wanted to say I did truly miss just seeing all these characters again and seeing how well fleshed out they all are even the more minor character's that don't really have much importance to the main story an are completly optional like Min just seeing how they develope and interact with the world with how it's changes just bring me that detailed joy i hardly get with most games out there.
And yes haha I am 100% one of those guys that even though he knows it isn't really going to do much will go and talk with every NPC interact with every little thing if given the chance if even just a Day of time skipping happens, hench why it's probably taking me so long to get through to the new content.

I also have to say I am really loving the CGs I had to admit when i first booted the game up in the Prologue and I was seeing the CG's there and how they seemed so lackluster and half baked it caught me off guard but then remembering your style of comedy and how you just love to fuck with the player with how you do things I should of guessed that the half finished or simple sketches of the Chosen being a Chosen in the intro of the game was just another gag and laugh at the player. Seeing just how well done and rendered the CG's if Simon and the other characters was just amazing Reminded me a bit of OverWhored's CGs to an extent.

Though Considering I am ending off today (at 5 am ik shush) session I just literally got to Robin's event.
Considering Robin has always been one of my Favorites of the group.
Just going to say I can't wait to see the rest of her scenes get CG's.

Oh I did wanted to say thing this could honestly just be on my end as my laptop has been starting to fade on me for a while and then again i had left it open for several weeks without a reset but even after words I had been noticing that there has been a lot of lag spikes and the game almost freezing up. Most specifically in the Slums Area of Yhilin. I don't know why honestly since this is literally the first i ever experienced something like this but again considering it happened only just now and when it did it caused my entire laptop to lag as well i will assume it was just on my end for now.

    1. FYI, you might have better luck asking this question on the forum or Discord, since I'm not sure how many others are still checking here. But it looks to me like the error message is saying that it can't find the music track for the Orgasmic Empire, so the first thing would be to check if the file appears to be there.

  18. Hey, I love this game, always giddy to see updates.

Not sure if this is a bug, but when starting the IK prison on a new playthrough, I had nearly every item from my previous playthrough, including the IK sword/shining sword, the outskirts key, and most of the equipment, missing Neranda's Wall, Golden Armor, Ribbon de Iris, Empress Sword, Beloved Helm, one extra demonic gem I had and all consumables. I asked in discord and a few people assumed it was a glitch, but the missing items seemed pretty intentional to me, so I thought I'd ask here; intentional timesaver or a glitch? Thanks for looking~

    Replies
    1. There's no code in the game to specifically remove items like that; you should have a brand new inventory. You're saying that this happened when starting a brand new game from the start? It's conceivable that could affect the script that creates separate inventories, but I'm afraid I have no theories.

      Delete
    2. Yep, this happened in a brand new game. I made one save from game A at the start of the war, finished the prison, made another save at that point, then deleted every other game A save, then started a new game B and progressed to the prison, at which point the above occurred. This was on the steam release, if it matters.

      Delete
    3. Unfortunately, I'm really not sure what to make of this. Is it completely replicable, as in you can repeat the steps from scratch and get the same result? If it is, I'd ask you to show people on the forum or Discord so they can help look into it for me.

      Delete
    4. Okay, I'm so sorry but I forgot until just now that I did use a save editor on this game; I forgot to go make the Orcsphere in chapter 4 so after the war I added one to my inventory and gave +5 to the Ghenalon score. I have no idea if that could be the cause but if it was, again sorry. If it wasn't, then I'm not sure how I could try to replicate it besides starting a new game and reaching that point, which I was gonna do anyway but it might take a while. Would something like sending my saves folder to someone over discord be useful/possible in the mean time?

    5. After the Erosian war, not Incubus war*

      Delete
    6. While it's generally possible that editing your save could lead to unintended behavior, I don't see a direct link this case. A save would be most useful if you have one that's just before the bug, but I suppose there's a chance that a save after could help. Saves plus a clear description is the best start.

  19. Hey Sierra, loving the update! Shit's really hitting the fan now, huh? The only advantage Simon has right now is that both Anak and the other one has dismissed him as a threat. I guess we're the only ones who know about the Terrible Warmth, huh? Also, speaking of Simon, I have 2 questions about his situation in Incubus Prison: 1. Do we have a timer, kinda like the one we had in the early chapter 2, only here it's number of saves instead of days? His state was obviously degenerating the longer he had to endure that shitshow, so will we have penalties if we took to many saves? 2. He always begins Prison fights with 100 SP. Is that a hint, that although interrupted partway through, Xestris ritual was succesful? After all, he never began with a full tank and it seems pretty significant given that the prison is designed to strip him of every advantage he had...

    1. The saves have no drawbacks. There is some dialogue that gets unlocked after we reach a certain threshold. But that's all.

    2. Yeah, I promise that I won't ever punish you for the save counter. If I wanted to have a save-limited section, I'd telegraph it much clearer.

As for Simon's SP, it's actually not guaranteed to be 100, he's just in a new mode where he generates lust quickly.

      Glad you're enjoying the update!

    3. Phew, that's a relief. Now I can enjoy all the dialogue, I mean, monologue. Actually, I think I noticed a small plot hole in the Prison? Simon learned Retreat from a memory of himself, but the whole reason he had to rely on his memories of others to come up with skills was because he couldn't use his own... or is this some kind of foreshadowing, continuing from what Mestan said in Eustrin? That Simon fundamentally changed after gaining power?

    4. He's completely locked away as an Incubus King and as a warrior, but fragments of his old self are enough to work as a memory.

    5. Huh, interesting. This whole exploit with utilising memories to earn skills could be viewed as a hint to Cold Light's rigid way of thiniking. I doubt Incubus Prison was a spontaneus, fast creation and yet it posseses such weak spots... Also, I had a thought: perhaps you should swap Simon's Chapter 1-2 sprite from Retreat skill's memory to Young Simon instead? From Wendis's flashbacks/dreams? Since it's his Second Arclent War self and all that...

    6. That's a nice idea, but it would require an additional variant of his full-size portrait with the younger face. @SL - if you want such a thing, let me know.

    7. Throwing in young Simon is an interesting idea, but I think I prefer this one. The reference to the first chapters of the game is the sort of callback that I hope will make some players think about how much has changed since then.

  20. I just replayed the Incubus Prison again, and I just can't wait for the next update! I really liked the puzzle feel of it, though it's still too bad there won't be anymore Nyst or Fuzkao, I genuinely thought both of them were really interesting antagonists and I was really excited to get a little bit of both of them being the brutal Incubus Kings they were back during the Incubus War, and while I wasn't expecting either of them to join team Simon or become major villains in their own rights, but I just wish we could've gotten a little more of them and learned a bit more about Nyst's motivations and Fuzkao's backstory.

Still really excited for the next update, and I actually bought Ouroboros because of how much I like this game and your storytelling

    1. Thanks for leaving feedback, and glad to hear you enjoyed this section!

Ouroboros is a different sort of game, but hopefully you'll have fun with it. ^-^

  21. Out of curiosity, Sierra, what's your plan for the levels and skills Simon gained in the IP? I suppose adding those earned levels to Simon's pre-imprisoment ones would be way too busted, but what about those skills? Will we see second and final (probably) skill fusion/sacrifice? Corrupt could definitely use a boost, if you ask me. Maybe I'm missing something, but the most utility I've got with it was during Elleani's WoS quest. If that's a big spoiler, feel free not to answer, of course.

  22. I first encountered your work with WoD - I genuinely thought it was a great title, even despite my distaste for RPGM titles. I am able to set aside that prejudice for a handful of titles, so when I found your blog I saw TLS - gave it a shot, and so far I genuinely enjoy it.

HOWEVER - It's a LOT of writing, and while majority of it is intriguing and maintains a draw on attention, there are times when it gets drawn out, and I hit Enter Macro to bypass some of it. I can usually tell where and what the story flow is heading into but figured it was worth pointing out. A tad more than that though is, while I fully understand what you are trying to get across, there are a few points in time during the story where the scenes feel a little pushed to fit one of the tags. Majority of the characters are genuinely likable and to a point relatable.

I personally would like to see more artwork for some of the older scenes and am curious as to whether or not that might be pushed as a focus in future updates? Unless you plan to leave that for towards the Final Release?

I also took a look at title you are currently working towards completing OEA and frankly, I was looking for something akin to a reliable demo, and the only ones I came across were for v0.4 and that has a rather annoying habit of saying Width Issue at a certain point. Overall though, you and your team if you have one do some seriously quality work. I have genuinely enjoyed all your titles so far, actually owning Crimson Gray on Steam - I played it long before I was even wholly aware you were the one that made it. Now that I am, my expectations are quite high for any additional content released.

I'd also like to say that I would gladly support you if I knew 100% of the funds were going to YOU and your team. However that is a hard thing to know without some research, hence I have refrained from doing so.

Please, keep it up. Know that you have a fan that is grateful and appreciative of your content. I would very much like to further dive into OEA once its out. What little I did play, I enjoyed.

    1. Hello! Thank you for trying my work, and of course I'm glad to hear that you've enjoyed it. ^-^

If you mean redoing scenes I've already commissioned, that's not something I'll be looking into until I've gotten every scene illustrated. I'm committed to the final quality, but this game is already expensive enough!

The web version of OEA is unfortunately less stable than the real version, though I'm sorry to hear you were getting the width crash frequently. Just to check, were you playing on Newgrounds? Any versions posted elsewhere were taken without my permission and may be even less stable.

It depends on what you mean. A true 100% is impossible, since payment processors will always take their cut somewhere. But money pledged on Patreon goes ~95% to me, which is about as good as you can get. If you're looking for a store to purchase games, then itch.io gives me the best cut at 90+%. There's some variance depending on your location and method, but those are the best options available. I'd appreciate your support!

    2. I did mean illustrated. I was not very clear in my terms, so apologies for that.

As for OEA - I did actually look around, and typically I avoid it unless it's the only source - however for clarity, the one I DID play was indeed on Newgrounds. Always happened right after escaping the tunnels and world jumping, right before you take the portal to where ever it leads (Dunno, as I couldn't get past that).

I do appreciate the information in relation to funding and I will take it into account going forward.

Mildly surprised you took the time to respond to even one of your older blog posts, but really just reinforces any decision to support going forward.

For the obligatory well wishing of holidays; Seeing as how it is December apparently. I hope you enjoy your time however you utilize it.

    3. I try to reply anywhere I see notifications! Some comments do slip past me, since I can't be everywhere.

I know what OEA bug you mean, but it doesn't happen on my end and everyone reported something a little different. The issue seems to be that the web version struggles to load new assets, but I could never figure it out reliably.

  24. I do actually have an inquiry - honestly you can be as vague as you wish but I am curious if something can be done with the Withered Mountain Fortress.

I ask because IF, and or AFTER you reinvest and prop up Feroholm, it actually strikes me as a good location as a border fort or garrison, whether for the soldiers Yhilini, or otherwise.

Aside from that, I personally rather enjoy playing from the Orcs side, and when I could it was actually rather entertaining and enlightening to their culture as you portray it. I was hoping that obviously not now, or in the near future, perhaps something akin to DLC or side content for a mini campaign of the Orcs could be done.

The other thing I'd also like to maybe bring into view, is I saw, and played to completion the "Alternate" or Mod where Simon can go rescue Altina in the Withered Mountain before heading to Yhilini. I was curious if this could even be considered but the trade off being instead of for example gaining both by waiting, you resuce Altina earlier, but lose the support of the Succubi as Simon doesn't have his abilities to Command or Control the Succubi during the large battle where you gain Carina.

I mean, it would obviously require a not insignificant amount of work to do so - as such I would understand the lack of desire or even just hesitation to do so.

I am however curious if you entertain the thought or aspect however.

    1. This detail is only visible on the Patron-accessible version of the world maps, but the Withered Mountain fortress isn't near the Ardan border - it's quite a bit south of the Watchtowers or the Knife, which are the established border forts between Ardoheim and the area that becomes New Givini. It's also chosen as a base by the succubi for its remoteness and isolation, which would make it an inconvenient location for a garrison.

    2. Ah,ok. Lack of details made for an incorrect assumption for plausible use. Was more just throwing it out there due its proximity to Feroholm, the Watchtowers both North and South of its location.

I would really just like to see the location used for something is it a more prominent if forgotten location.

Anyhow, I think I am done commenting online for the next few years. This brief stint has been pleasant and informative.

    3. I do have general plans for that location to return one more time: the whole story started there, so it has more than one role to play.

As for rescuing Altina, that would have a pretty huge impact on the game. Canonically there are reasons Simon wouldn't have been able to at that time, but I believe someone actually did make a mod that sends you there. If I recall, facing that combat with a much weaker party was highly challenging, but possible. The mod may still be available on the wiki/forum.

Nice to have you here for a brief visit. Maybe you'll be ready for another comment when the game is done. ^-^

  25. Hi Sierra Lee, i've found a bug in this version after finishing Erosian war. I can't access Riala research, according to walkthrough you can access Riala research after the war but i just can't. After choosing research when talking to Riala, it closes the options and it didn't do anything.
