This has been a crazy development period, but it's finally time to release this version to everyone. I reserve the right to make changes to balance if I notice issues or feel it would be best for the game. Overall, though, this should be a polished update filled with new events I hope you'll enjoy!

Is there any way to get the game to recognize the D-pad on my XBox controller? The analog stick works fine, but I'd rather play 2D games the way they were intended.
ReplyDeleteThe game tries to support as many controllers as possible, but unfortunately it isn't universal. I'd suggest looking up your controller model and RPG Maker games to see if there are any known issues.

If Arclent was a comparatively underdeveloped continent at the beginning of the story - not even knowing of other Incubus Kings - then how come people on other nations speak Clentian? The first possible reason would of course be convenience for the story, but is there an in-lore reason?

DeleteThe in-world reason is that the language they call Clentian is actually an older trade language that spanned the continents. Realistically the language should have diverged more in the time apart, but this game doesn't focus on language, so there's some story convenience as well. You can assume that the Arclentian characters all have a distinct way of speaking, though. There are different accents for Ardoheim and Aram, but both share certain traits and grammatical assumptions that would really stick out on Renthnor or Thenours.
That's really interesting, thank you! On that note- how did you come up with words for the other languages present in the game? (Dwarren, Sylvan and Zirantian)
DeleteAside from some references, these are basically done with just the first steps of conlanging: I choose phonemes and rough structure for the language to give it a distinguishable flavor, then only create as much as necessary for the dialogue.

- Build a Harem: Select the finest women from all the realms; Objectives: Find a harem mistress
- Incubus King Rematch: Take revenge and claim you destiny; Objectives: Complete all core quests to begin
In that case, finish the prologue.

At the end of the update Mestan says something very interesting before leaving, does that mean that this quest can have multiple endings? I understand alot of it is set in stone to sett up the final arc.....but if I can get manny different results in this quest I will pursue them. So tell me tell me wont you tell me, I just gotaa know.

This might be a shit post, which I do not intend, but the identity of Ivala`s jailer was obvious since King Alonon`s conference to me. Seeing the silhouette when she imprisoned Tanurak was not a satisfying reveal to me. I think having her not just white figure but actual character would be more shocking. What I am looking forward to seeing is explanation of how she jailed Ivala in the first place. Otherwise I want you to know that this update was absolutely awesome and I spent the weekend going trough it many times and not get bored. Yarra realizing extreme submission, though willing, does not work even for her was my favorite moment.

ReplyDelete- Good job with Trin. I was 3/4 sure that it was a scheme (since I grinded her affection points !!!) but with her personnality, I did doubt a little bit when she killed Balia. It seemed a bit much just for infiltration. Completely forgot her copy skill XD
- Poor Xestris, she was used up till the end. Although there are more and more suspicions towards her : the entity has a scary eye, is a woman, and there is no slot for her in the harem. After all, all good lies are 90% truth and 10% deception. Hmmmmmmm.....
- Oh no, Simon got kidnapped !!! Reminded me of Nalili, Qum and Yarra kidnapping, but in the inverse direction XD And jailing all Incubus Kings would have been a good idea if the entity motives weren't so grim and obscure. Plus it got Simon too.
- Yaaaayyy, we saved Mithyn !!!! Too cool !!!! And I'm not surprised of Lord of Blood's end. When she warned us not to enter first, it was obvious that she would kill on sight. Poor Bloody didn't even had the time to understand....
- By the way, I was a bit sad that his base wasn't on a giant turtle. Turtles are cool !!! but a floating castle is fine too. So what happened to Mithyn temple and Bloody castle after the fight ? Is it part of our spoils now since everyone who could contest it went *poof* ?
- So now we're gonna raid the Church.... It's gonna be a massive brawl !!! I kinda hope that they would be happy afterwards that we rescue their mascot divinity but I don't think it's gonna be the case.... XD And finally a new hope to save Sister Beatrice !!!! I'm not giving up on her !!!!

ReplyDeleteThis update is straight up amazing. I'll have to reload from before the battle and try a few more times to see what can be done better and if some things can be avoided (like Mestan's role at the very end) cause I don't think I made the best choices I could have overall.
Not sure if Trin's little sub-plot has a 'bad end' if I made a different choice on the way into the island (and back in the previous gathering where she gave us an option iirc), but it'll also be another thing I wanna try differently just to see how it goes. Maybe sexy times for being a 'bad girl'? ;)
Wendis coming in and dropping an 'oh shit' moment on Tanurak was hilarious.
I love that quip from Tertia about how Mithyn wasn't pretending (unlike her XD).
And Mithyn herself, now there's someone who need a lot more screen time (which I'm sure we'll get now that she's actually in the harem). I love her little backstory and its obvious effects on how she is now. I'm definitely looking forward to how her sexy-times with Simon and the girls go.
I'm really looking forward to the next update now. Get some rest before you get to it though. You more than deserve it after this monster of an update. (^_^)b

DeleteGoodness, the wiki currently has the playtime tallied at 50+ hours. Is that accurate? My save file is currently at 128 hours, and I don't think that's counting reloads, game overs, save scumming, etc.
ReplyDeletePlaytime will vary from person to person, but most people have well over fifty. The problem with saying something like 100+ hours is that many people will assume that means the game has a lot of filler.

I stumbled on it rather recently and your writing(storyboarding) and RPG gameplay mechanics and understanding have been really enjoyable. I'm not that far in atm, Just recently finished the multiple routes part of the game but it feels really good. I know that sometimes creating can seem like a thankless process so I just wanted to thank you for creating a great turn based RPG experience.

On Yarra's Route when I just arrived in Rodak, I talked to the succubus who says they have nothing to fear from us but when I try to walk to the top of the screen to move on, it acts like an invisible wall. Any help?

ReplyDeleteI kind of wish that it have some more paths for a harem members - with a choice like in case of Altina or Varia. Or more choices in dialogues in general so player can forge his own quirks.
I also noticed that there is lack of bro characters. There is not that many male characters in game but there is almost zero male bro or friendly characters. Outside Geoff who don't like Simon very much(lightly speaking) there is zero friendly or respectable male characters. It wasn't bothering me at start but when i hit 4th Chapter it hit me with full power.
I got that its porn game in the end but why we don't have any male subordinates at all?
So far, Kalant seem to be our/Simon only male friend, maybe that bounty hunter guy in the forest and Aram's ambassador too, but that might be stretching.

DeleteNot to pile on, but I think that Orcent is probably fairly high on the list of characters by percentage of screentime and/or interactions with Simon. Characters like the other orcs, Alonon, Kalant, or Mestan also get a decent amount of time.
DeleteThat said, I don't think your criticism is wrong overall. This is a harem game and that brings with it certain imbalances. When I originally planned out the whole thing, I expected the audience to be considerably more negative toward the presence of other male characters.

2. In the first time in Stineford, why was Hilstara fine with visiting the tower full of succubi and the farm full of orcs?
3. So just that I get it straight, both Xerces' and his enemies plans involve ascending to being gods, or just to get a lot more power? And they both did so by performing rituals that linked shards together and stealing their power, or just focusing it on themselves?

Delete1) To be honest, I'd need to review specific dialogue. Simon has been aware of other beings who were Incubus Kings since his travels after Wendis died, but he knew nothing about shards until Riala, so I don't believe he knew their identity until they're introduced in the game.
2) Hilstara is a pretty open-minded woman. I wanted to contrast her relatively relaxed attitude to the Aka/Yarra dynamic of the early game.

I appear to have hit upon a bug. When the three succubi are kidnapped and we are in the dungeon to rescue them, I appear to have entered a battle on the same tile that triggers a conversation with Nalili. I don't expect this matters but full disclosure that I may have edited variables in my save.
I am fairly sure that the Nalili actor is getting stuck on the invisible enemy event, which should be fixable by making her move route pass through those. Good to fix, thanks!
DeleteFinally managed to catch up. I stopped playing for like a year to build up a backlog of game to play, then deleted all my saves to start over. Just made it to the end of the latest war (almost 100 hours now, although some may be from me falling asleep while playing). But I saw that outline. Of course the true divine culprit, the one behind the Chosen, is that person. So obvious when you go back and think about it. Betting on part of that person's plan for the 'prison' being to force the Incubus Kings to fight to the last, ending with one having a huge amount of power. And that person is trusting Simon to come out on top. Because Simon is generally a good person, far more trustworthy than any other Incubus King, and even after gaining his shard and even with his staunch atheism he has still worked to better the Church.

I've got a theory that the Crystal of Ivala might not be a new thing, but rather the reveal of Ivala's prison to restore the waning faith in the Church. But whatever the next reveals are, I'm hoping for max RP with Carina.
