Five Years of TLS

The post of thoughts I wrote on the fifth anniversary of TLS is now available to everyone. Read it here if you're interested:
https://www.patreon.com/posts/31780081

I had a lot of feelings about that, but I put them into the post. =P Thanks to all of you who enjoy my work, however long you've been following the game!

Several people have contacted me regarding trying to nominate TLS for the Steam Awards. There is no chance that it will rank, but it's harmless and I'm honored you like what I've done. If you want to help out, here would be helpful things in order of efficacy:
1) Leave a review of TLS
2) Review anything else you've played
3) Nominate it for the "Story Rich" category
4) Leave a review for the DLC

Thanks!

  1. When you say "TLS will have a definitive ending that I intend to make satisfying for all those who have invested so much time in the game", does that mean we'll finally find a broom?

  3. Will there be merchandise? One day?

    1. Also the bar keeper in the Court is different before and after the attck (different sprite and portrait)

    2. Not sure on merchandise. Most of those things have to be made in bulk and there's probably not a large enough audience for it.

The bar keeper intentionally changes due to the plot.

  4. Let's see how far in the ranking can we bring it!

  5. That thing about the last sovereign 2 is a joke right?
I know you joke a lot, and it looks like a joke but I have the Hope (yeah with capital letters) that its not a joke and another last sovereign could be possible

    1. Entirely a joke. I've tried to always be up front about TLS having a definitive ending and I'm sorry that my joke seems to have had a negative effect in this case.

    2. TT_TT

I was really hoping it wasn't a joke despite the title being obviously a joke.

  6. Have Saraï met Trin ? Would be fun if they had a conversation. Oh and does Saraï knows about Wendis, or is she waiting to have a body to pay a visit?
Also did Feremina and Janine had a talk? Lynine mentioned it the last time we were at Stenaï.

  7. Sarai knows about Wendis. They have talked off-screen.

  8. Saddened it won't be called TLS 2: Electric Boogaloo, but I suppose that is all memed out.

TLS is a great work, and has some quality stuff, it even inspired a setting of mine, but good works often inspire creativity i would say.

    4. It's fine, don't sweat it. Better to fix it later than never.
The three succubus in the cafe stays turned after the conversation about how threesome are not legal. Probably the same bug as Glasses Lady ? I wish I knew programming.

    6. At the Givini Poorhouse basemetn scene, if Vhala is with us could we get a dialog from her saying she will wait upstairs or something like that ?

    7. Also shouldn't the mirror in the basement that we take to convince the Givini merchant appear in our inventory as a key item ?
How I wish there were a "edit" button on these messages.
Totally unrelated but about storytelling games with deep philosophical meaning, have you heard of this one ? https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?threads/valor-a-storytelling-game-adult-themes.44039/

    8. Also the "worse" Unpeoples who were sold, what happened to them ? Were we able to "cure" them with the research we have done or were we forced to put them out of their misery ?

    9. After conquering Yhilin, the Premium Steel owner call us partner. Shouldn't we be under illusion ?

    10. When we meet Queens Eytria and Dheria, I think it would be cool to have the portrait of Dheria on the right, like you did for Orilise and Lynine.

      Delete
    11. Also while we pounder on who will help us to cure the queens, I've noticed that that Dheria is turned to the left. Probably a bug, unless you intended for the queens to continue their discussions, in which case it's Eytria who sould turn to the right.

    12. Oh, and in the Twisted Glen, I think it would be better if we didn't see the succubi before untangling the illusion.

    13. Iris words after the scene with the starved succubi in the Twisted Glen "Oh my... The commander is certainly... puissant." Shouldn't it be powerful ?

      Delete
    14. Puissant is correct - it's similar to 'powerful' or 'influential'. It's a loanword from French which isn't often used in modern English, but it's certainly appropriate for someone with Iris' perspective on life.

    15. Does the Tower exist only on the world of Sult or does it span aross the universe ? If it does, Simon and Co could explore others planets after conquering the world.

    19. Oh, and if Ginasta is a Tower mechanism, does that mean her childhooh memories are... fake ? How long has she lived by the way ?

    20. Simon's meeting with the two groups just before entering Zirantia : Robin and Qum don't turn towards Simon.

      Delete
    21. I think it would be better if we could investigate our Zirantian bedroom only once. Doesn't make much sense repeating this a fex days after arrival.

    22. Leaving the Zirantian palace by the stairs from Palace Entrance, we see the place for a second, then there a black screen and we appear before Fuani.

If my reports annoys you, don't hesitat to let me know, I'll stop immediately.

    23. They don't annoy me, but it is somewhat difficult to check on a regular stream of small reports when I'm mostly focused on the upcoming update. If you could compile all your notes from a playthrough into a single message, that would be helpful.

      To answer your questions...

The Tower exists across the universe, but mundane space generally leads to space there as well. The gap between Sult and other planets would be extreme.

Simon would probably only need to do a bit of extra magical work to be able to share memories.

Yeah, I've read the Evil Overlord list.

Technically the answers regarding Ginasta haven't yet been revealed, but they're also not critical spoilers or anything. Ginasta is a real person who functions as a Tower mechanism, so she's not a fake human. She has authentic memories and is the age she appears to be.

    24. GOt it will do. You didn't answer about the question about the Unpeople and the one about Knight of Valor

    25. If we're both thinking of the monstrous Unpeople, they were mostly beyond help.

No, I hadn't heard of Valor before.

    26. Just wonderign, in the future, will we be able to break, or at least remove a few lamps in the Zirantian Palace ? Poor girl...

    27. Oh, and will we ever see piano played ? (Probably not....)
And about music, I propose this for future Erosian maps !!! Especially the part from 0:40 to 2:04 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toXNVbvFXyk

      Delete
    28. Haha, all I had planned for the lamp-cleaner was a nice retirement. No comment on pianos.

The music you link is a nice tune, but I don't think I have the legal right to use it in the game.

  10. I remember when this was just a small game on a smut forum. Now it's incredibly popular and probably one of the longest-running projects in this niche market that hasn't fizzled out or just died. My, how far you've come since then!

    ReplyDelete
  11. I found this game via a spreadsheet of games on a reddit post. It captured my attention with the conclusion of the opening prologue dungeon, and held me tight in it's grip ever since. There are far too few writers with the confidence to tell a story in a overtly sexual setting, and the skill to write it well, but you are one of them, sure as hell. I hate giving this excuse, but the reality is that I am a underpaid pregrad student, who can't afford to spend money on nearly anything for myself, let alone others. Despite that I have a list of those I owe for entertainment that has kept me sane over the last few years, and you are top of that list. I've purchased the Steam version of the game since it seems to be the only way to send one lump sum instead of subscribing to monthly payments. But when the day comes when I stop giving everything to invest in my future and can afford to pay those I owe, you will be receiving a massive paycheck. Thanks for everything you do.

    1. No problem, I completely understand needing to get by as a student. You can actually use Patreon to send a lump sum by pledging your amount, then deleting it immediately after, but I would not encourage you to give anything until you're comfortable in your situation.

Do leave a review on Steam if you haven't yet, though. ^-^ Otherwise, I'm glad to hear you've enjoyed my game!

  12. Since you seem to be planning to make a sequel for this game, let me suggest that you when you, don't do the same mistake that Star Wars, Boruto, and so many others did. Don't open a long story that is already closed. Don't bring back the old characters just to remember the audience that this is sequel, or anytime people get boring. I know people like the original cast and want to see them again, but if a story can't be good by itself and must use things like that to be interesting, it's because the story isn't good to begin with and is being kept by the love the fans have for the previous work.
