TLS 0.75.0 Released!

New update for supporters on Patreon or SubscribeStarVersion history updated, you know what to do, etc.


TLS 0.75.0

 - The dialogue system of TLS has been massively overhauled to show character busts during conversations. Thanks to Rachnera and others for helping this happen.

 - Substantial balance changes, including many new skills (see next section).

 - Remade and polished prologue section.

 - New custom title screen menu.

 - New maps for all Stineford interiors.

 - Further polishing, to the final battle and across the game (see lowest section).

 - New windowskin thanks to Lamsey.

 - New illustrated scene: Shard Sipping.


Balance Changes

 - 33 new skills spread across the harem.

 - 6 new skills dedicated to swapping active party members, a newly coded capability.

 - 8 new synergy skills: Poison Storm, Piercing Assault, Weakening Assault, Agile Guard, Pure Thrust, Inspire, Anti-Tyrant Essence, Arcane Shieldwall.

 - Uyae's stance skills no longer require a turn to switch.

 - Thanks to Lord Forte for scripting help, the LUK statistic now has more complex effects on the game, including status effects, hit rate, and evasion.

 - The LUK of both enemies and characters has been adjusted to compensate for these effects.

 - Six new offhand items unique to Vhala have been added, spread throughout the game depending on decisions.

 - Multiple synergy skills have been tweaked, and Earth Lance no longer requires synergy.

 - The cost of Dominate/Corrupt was reduced.

 - The damage formula for Quake was improved.


Past Changes and Additions

 - Final ending requirements modified.

 - The final push section now shows your variables more accurately.

 - Lustlord's Shadow boss weakened.

 - The Crystal of Harmony is now purchasable if you missed it.

 - Eustrin now has two new tracks, thanks to Lamsey.

 - Lamsey also contributed a significant number of modified sprites, such as succubus sex, prologue Simon, and a new Doom King statues.


This isn't the final optional dungeon update I wanted, but look at all the stuff in the above list: I felt it would be wrong to keep that all from everyone while I finished the next section. Plus, it will be good to get input on the balance of all the combat changes before I do the final combat challenge. I don't know if this will take a week or longer before going public, but that will have no impact on how quickly I finish the next update.

  1. I am SO excited. I've been checking every Friday for updates. Thank you for nerfing the LL boss. I am very stoked to see this game to its end after all these years, and you're tempting me to start yet another journey with TLS with these retroactive updates, holy moly.

    2. I'm curious as to how much of the prologue has been remade. I always liked the fact that the game starts with you playing one of the heroes and then the game pulls an "Uno Reverse" card and you're playing as Simon instead.

    I'm a Steam user and I would like to bring something to your attention that may have been overlooked. Last year Steam introduced a new region called LATAM which includes many countries in Latin America, including my country, Argentina.

    Currently, Once Ever After seems to have inherited the standard price in the United States since no price was set for our region.

    Would you please consider setting a price for our region when you get a chance? This would be greatly appreciated by players across Latin America!

    1. I don't actually set prices, I just check the option that lets Steam decide the regional pricing. Usually this works on its own, but it seems that in this case when LATAM and MENA were added, developers need to go in and reconfirm.

      I have done so now for all my games, so I hope that helps everyone in those regions!

    I am very exited for all the changes you made. I have been following your game almost since release and I find that all changes made are helping the game evolve in a positive way. I am so glad you decided to put in the extra effort and do things outside of the game's default features (such as characters showing busts during conversations). I think that it enriches the game even more. I am exited to go over all your changes soon. :)

    1. Thanks! Please look forward to the updates both in this build and in the next as well. ^-^ Trying to do a lot of polish and improvement before the big 1.0.0 release when new players may be trying the game for the first time.

  4. Whoa wow wow !!!! Too many new things !!!!

    I'm curious to see the new dialogues, and how the prologue have changed after... what 10 years ? 12 ? Does it include Hilstara interactions with succubi or just until the window jump ?

    Nice to see you went all the way with Stineford overall !!! It was just too weird without it XDXDXD

    Aaah, same as the last time, I'll probably miss the old title screen. I wonder what it will be.... Wait, what about a gallery for the title screen ? Showing different things every 10 s or so ? Eeeeh, probably to hard to code. Then again, your team already did amazing things with the engine.

    Plenty of new skills with I hope, all the convos that come with them ^^ The hit orcs will have lots of fun ^^

    1. The changes are only the parts before the "Chapter 1" screen. One day I might do revisions to the sections between the prologue and Stineford, but not yet.

      Some of the new skills are learned via level, but all the new synergy skills have dialogue!

    2. is there any way to get those leveled new skills in ongoing games? Just leveling up doesn't seem to retroactively grant them.

      I have provided a build specifically for Android users, and you will see in the comments some Android players discussing using it. There seem to be some settings required, but it's possible.

    Also, is there still no incentive for preventing Palina’s rape? I feel a little…. weird only benefiting from allowing a rape..

    1. That wasn't really intended as a balanced branch, it's just an option for players who really don't want that to happen in their save. If you read the conversation between Simon and Palina afterward, you may understand why.

  7. Hi Sierra, I have a small question
    In a far far far future, did you have plans to remake some cities/maps?

    Stineford, Yhilin and Ardford are so good looking! But then places like Theltiar, Erosia, Stenai looks rather simple or basic

    By no means I am saying this as a critic nor I dislike your work (In fact I follow your forum since the first versions) as I said, its just curiosity!

    If you didnt plan to change anything nor your consider it necesary, its fine, I will keep loving your game anyways!

    1. It make sense in lore though.
      We don't have access to most of Theltiar,
      Erosia is in ruin,
      And Stenai is small.

      With that said, I would of course happily explore new places ^^

    2. Aww, but I like my design for Theltiar. T-T

      Any map could in theory be remade, but I'm focused on those that use default RTP. Locations like Erosia and Stenai are already using a custom tileset, thus they have some visual identity and I consider them lower priority to remake.
