The Final TLS Roadmap

Back in 2017 I posted a text roadmap for the remainder of the game and we've been following it, but it's come to my attention that many players have forgotten or never saw it. So, since we're getting closer to the end, I thought it was a good time for a new roadmap. Many thanks to Lamsey for improving the visual garbage I started with!

This version doesn't give all details, but it shows you exactly what content remains in the game compared to what has been done in this section. No more need to speculate about who gets a harem quest and who doesn't. Perhaps more importantly, I hope it will remove the need for promises or arbitrary dates: everyone will be able to see the changes in the remaining content and judge my progress for themselves. Look forward to this image being updated every release.

Some of these icons are far more work than others, of course. You've seen how some of the harem quests are quiet character moments while others are elaborate events, so the number of checks per update will vary. But I believe this will give a strong enough overall impression. The only thing likely to change is that I might add some time doing revisions in between the postgame update and officially releasing the game as 1.0.0, just to create a better first impression for any new players.

I am hard at work on TLS 0.65.0, which will check off a decent number of those boxes because I worked on it all through the holiday break. See you then!

  1. Very interesting roadmap.

I'm assuming that the Orcent and Simon icon is for the bar conversations. That must be close to ticked right, how many more bars are there in the world that we haven't already patronized?

Somewhat devastated that Sabitha doesn't get a harem questline, but excited to see Vhala has a non-harem quest or something coming.

    2. Orcent will get Orcent-specific content! That said, you're not wrong that some of these boxes are close to being ticked.

Sabitha joins so late I wasn't planning on a harem quest for her. That said, if I think of an idea I really love, I might add one. ^-^

  2. Thank you for the info. I'm curious about some of the implications. Like the lack of a certain characters on the list.

Hmm, I understand that "Warden of the South" is Elleani's personal quest. I can somewhat understand that "Eustrin Final" is Neranda's. Although If that's the case I'm not sure why "Yhilin Final" and subsequent wedding doesn't considered Janine's personal quest.

If there is still something that Janine want for herself enough to warrant new quest then I'm pretty sure Neranda also have something. Maybe to travel the world a bit with Simon for example.

Additonally, what considered Pheliel personal quest? Just her inclusion in harem? Whatever it is, it doesn't even give the points for Simon's recovery unlike Elleani's or Neranda's events. It feels like she has the least screentime, exposition and interactions out of all harem members in game.
Especially since there is sections with very heavy involvment for other leaders (Orilise and Lynine in the Elven kingdom section, Esthera at the time of Simon's first "visit" to Orgasmic Empire, Janine and Sarai through the whole game).

For that matter does Xestris and Esthera won't have something for themselves? Well, perhaps Esthera already has everything she wants, but does Xestris? For herself and aside from caring for Philon? For that matter do we truly finished with Philon? Even if barrier is down, It's leader disappeared. Will there be some additional interactions for Xestris, Simon&co and Philon or that's it?

Sabitha and the goddesses lack of quests is undestandable, though their characters could have been somewhat expanded also. With mini-quests, like exploring Tower Depths with Sabitha a bit or dealing with Mithyn followers, for example.

And also I'm curious about final harem member. I understand that her identity would be a spoiler, so I won't ask, but I hope that whoever she is, she'd get enough screen time and interactions to not lag behind other characters much. Simon stated that he love everyone in his harem (perhaps to different degrees, but still) so I hope it would be showed.

Anyway thanks for the fantastic work and fantastic game.

    1. I agree that Fheliel doesn't have much screentime and that Sabitha side content would be nice.
For Xestris..... I would like for her to fall for Simon, but I'm afraid she won't have enough time to heal for that. Xerces WAS her everything for a few centuries after all.
I also share the worry that the last harem member won't have enougth of an impact on the story. She will be there for what ? 2,3 updates ?
Let us pray for Sierra to find a solution for our doubts.

    2. Since it's the last dungeon it's a given that last harem member should already be well-established character. For all we know, it may even be rejuvenated Hester (although my money is on Ulrissa for now). But whoever it'll be, to give her justice epilogue should be somewhat on the biggish side.

    3. My general principle was that characters who join toward the end of the game, especially via optional events, won't get additional quests. That does leave Fheliel with less content overall, but that is the plan so far.

Janine sort of falls into that category, but her final content was so long ago she hasn't gotten major appearances recently. You'll see her personal quest soon and I hope everyone will like it. ^-^

The final harem member will be an oddball. There are oblique hints in the game, but no one has guessed it yet. Don't expect as much emotional content there... as I said, it's an odd one. There's a reason she's in an optional dungeon.

No spoilers on a few of your questions, sorry.

    4. Well, Sarai also somewhat optional. Or will her harem quest also be induction quest for those who didn't get her at the Gawnfall?

Dari as well, considering that her research theoretically can be skipped. There is no much point in optimized playthrough, but on the blind run or disaster run it can happen.

As for the final harem member... Well, only so called "THE REAL IVALA" (aka elusive thief) comes to mind.^^
Or the fourth wall breaking character, but I hope I'm wrong here.
As for optional part and less emotional content, should she and her dungeon really be placed after final battle and not before?

    5. Sarai will have a personal quest regardless of whether or not she's in the harem. Likewise, Dari joining the harem is optional, but she's been with the party for a long time and I wanted to give her a moment to shine.

The last character's dungeon will be designed after the final battle, but in-game it will be accessible before it. I want the challenge dungeon to be the last combat I design for the game.

    6. Oddbal, oblique hints.... My money is on Lilith then. Maybe Mestan feelings influenced her.
The previous last harem member is obviously gonna be Ulrissa. She's already in the base, we possess her books.... Just gotta wait for her to realize XDXDXD

  3. For Pheliel though. I asked about her, because, well, she just looks too optional to me. Neranda and Elleani may be optional, but they have some noticable events. Pheliel... doesn't really have much of all. Her appearances is essentially cameos, in the main storyline she is mostly sidelined. So I thought that she may be expanded through some additional quest.

    1. As I've said in a number of places, I think my ambitions for the size of the harem exceeded the number you can really juggle, even in a game of this size. I'd add content for Fheliel if I had an extraordinary idea, but that is not the plan for now.

  4. really huh i thought Dari had her quest done aka become human again

  5. Hello again Sierra! cool to see the game is still going; I've been following it for like 6 years now.

I liked the writing of the game so far but today I wanted to talk about something maybe?

Spoilers!!!!!: The lustlord's death seemed kind of rushed and quickpaced for what it was to be honest. After what you did with the fucklord,it seemed with the "old" and eternal lustlord like he had more things to do in the story. You could argue this works for his hubris, but I don't know, it feels weird that less important lords got more screentime and that even the lord of blood survived him. what do you think about it Sierra?

Other than that, love your game, I'm, excited to see more of it.

    See ya!

    1. Hopefully development will only stop when everything is complete!

Sorry you didn't enjoy the Lustlord's death. After two chapters culminating in an Incubus King, my goal was to show that the party is moving on to even bigger issues. My goal was to undercut the Lustlord's high opinion of himself, but then also surprise the player by showing that he was individually powerful.

  6. Love the roadmap image, I'm looking forward to what you'll do with some of the harem quests and some of the broader things like the Ardford succession and the Mother of the elves.

But what I'm actually REALLY looking forward to is what Qum's idea for her personal equipment will be, she has been thinking for a really long time in Premium Steel...

    1. Yeah, when I decided not to include her personal item in her quest, that got kicked down the road. I've had plans since I made her show up there, they just haven't fit in yet!

    2. I have to say (Vhala is in the same boat, but she and humor don't mix that well) that poor Qum been stuck in the Premium Steel for near tow chapters struck to me both funny and hilarious.

I can all too well how she is so hesitant at the start of her request if the Meanie Game developer has decided to make her wait that much time.

  7. Errrrr, completely unrelated, but while replaying the Erosian war and choosing to figth Ginasta yourself, Simon is still in the sprite of the Doom King after saying he'll emerge. I thought that was fixed ? Did it fall into the cracks again ?

    1. I'm going to have to be completely honest with you: this is not on my list and I don't remember discussing it. Based on that description, I wouldn't want to just wade in and make changes.

  8. I can not contain my excitement for this games conclusion. I intentionally haven’t played since maybe version 0.56 or so. I plan on replaying the entire thing over the course of a week or two of having no life and taking off work. I sank about 200 hours into it then and hopefully I’ll be able to sink another 200-300 hours in the final version. So incredibly thankful for your work.

  9. Hey Sierra, i have a lore question that's been bugging me for a while now. During the Ardford summit Ginasta tells the representatives that there are many incubus kings besides the one they know, and the representatives are surprised or in disbelief. this has always confused me since 1. one of the reps for is for 'foreign powers' and says he is from Thenours, and 2. it becomes very clear later in the game that trade and diplomatic contact between arclent and the other continents isn't super rare, so all these well-connected diplomats having no idea about the other kings always struck me as very strange.

    1. Connections between the other continents are a relatively recent phenomenon and information is imperfect. Recall that, during his years of wandering, Simon couldn't even get inside some major nations. Most of the other Incubus Kings (like the Lustlord) have a degree of legitimacy and Arclentians didn't associate them with the man who arrived on their continent and started the worst war in living memory. They know someone called "the Lustlord" exists, but they really didn't like the idea of him being the same as the Incubus Emperor.
