TLS 0.63.3 Public Release

Fancy new version! See previous posts/notes for the details. Now that the Philon quest and some other details are wrapped, we can move on to more harem quests, the painting feature, and the final foundation blocks for the ending.

  1. Hi. I'm curious about Ha;; of Mortality. I understand that some of Simon's lovers doesn't need shards (Sabitha, Wendis, Esthera, goddesses) and Ginasta isn't truly part of harem yet, but why Fheliel and Neranda not present, even then they are in the harem?

    2. It mostly has to do with when that map was created and what had been revealed at that time. I intend to add them at some point when I'm not so focused on new content.

  2. Is anyone else feeling like the combat got SUPER hard all of a sudden? I'm doing a replay and in certain places with fast enemies like Tak'Kan and the Deepwilds shrine the enemies can one shot someone like robin or Qum before I get a chance to do anything.

    1. Past balance hasn't changed, but enemies in the later Tower sections tend to hit hard. Slight differences in strategy can make the battles swing substantially. Perhaps more than would be ideal, but in the present game high AGI and hitting first are good strategies.

  3. Hello there!!!! Let's begin the traditional info dump!!!! ^^

    - Not related to the content of this update, but I thought I needed to report this. Once again, it's a positioning bug ^^ At the beginning of Simon rescue at the Simon Gate, Ivala and Mythyn starts with their backs towards the gate, keeping their former position before the start of the cinematic. As the scene proceed, they turn to each other and end up in the right direction.

    - Magnificent soundtrack for the Philon second Tower part ^^ Especially, the slowed version (which I didn't found in the audio folder :-( )

    - When we (finally) meet Zelica, shouldn't it be Gray hair Wendis?

    - Zelica join the Fallens. Can't say I'm surprised. With the overall vibe and how it was lead, I saw no other way it could have ended. I appreciated the message, that he can't avoid/stop all pain and loss, even (or especially) with his power. A shame though. Petition for her to get her harem portrait, even if it's posthumous. Surprised there wasn't more reaction from the harem to be honest (in the base).

    - For the second shard distribution, I saved the elfs, Zirantians, Dari, Elleani and Trin. Following the same logic of the first distribution, I prioritized those with a weaker/lacking lifespan (For reminder, I saved the succubi and Hilstara the first time since she was at risk of losing combat power). The elves lives shorter lives than humans and the Zirantians must be the same. Since Dari experienced so many traumatic changes, it should be safe to say that her lifespan was heavily hit. Elleani is half succubus so better be safe than sorry. As for Trin, she distinguished herself recently. From saving Balia with her quick thinking to dealing a heavy hit to No Face Meanie, she really calmed down compared to her rocky start. Although I didn't fall for her provocation and accidently killed her, this event made me realize that she needed more means to protect herself, including from herself.

    - Since my pleads to save Beatrice and obtain the throne of Stenai (a copy) have been unheard so far, I decided to take matters in my own hands. For Beatrice it was (relatively easy after I found Thosha saves bunker. For the throne, Fulminato was very helpful ^^.

    - I don't remember if Ginasta and Simon had a good talk after he escaped? If not it would be a good addition I think ^^.

      I will have to check about Ivala and Mithyn. If I have turns coded in the scene, I may have intended them to start facing away.

      The slowed version of the song isn't a separate file, I'm afraid, just the normal track played at reduced speed.

      You don't have to worry about giving Aka a shard; she will be fine.

    4. Aka is part Demon and doesn't need a shard. She does say that. It was also a major part of the story.

      Also, as far as i'm aware, Elves live a lot longer than humans.

  4. I've got a minor nitpick: when I open the game, it reads The Last Sovereign 0.63.2 on the window, and I checked both the mega and mediafire version. Is that a typo or something?

  5. Okay, so.

    I didn't comment on anything, really, but I am a long TLS fan.

    Since it's made of, practically, rtp resources that were adapted (due to TLS scale, I assume), I would like to overhaul them as a fan project. I am a pixel artist, and it would be cool secondary project to do as a distraction from my own gamedev. Obviously, no profit intended, I just want to make a mod for a game I adore.

    However, I would need at least permission to do that, since it's unknown to me how you think about modding. I have the ace rpgmaker, and doing art that isn't bleak for once would also be a refresher, since my own projects are usually extremely depressing and drab in their tone.

    If I can do it, would you mind emailing me (commissaramethyst@gmail.com) or responding here in some way? If I can't, it would help to know too.

    1. Well, there are actually many non-RTP resources in TLS, so it's sad that they're always considered RTP. I say this not to complain, but because I don't have the terms of every single artist involved (some of which may not allow their work to be modded). If you are modifying the RTP assets from your copy of VX Ace or doing brand new pixel art, there couldn't be any problem with that, but if you rip assets from the game files, those may be from sources where I can't give permission.

      That said, I would not stand in your way making a mod. There are already a number of them, such as the story mode or early Altina mods. So long as you don't sell the result or otherwise violate the normal standards for modding, you can feel free without asking me!

      If you want to radically alter the style of the game for fun, go right ahead. Post about it on the forum or Discord and I'm sure that you'd get some comments. ^-^ If you're thinking of matching the general style... would you want any of your work to appear in the game itself? I've had better luck working with fans than freelancers, honestly.

I know that there's a lot of non-Rtp resources, it becomes completely clear after a while, but they still have the same graphical style that fits with the regular rpgmaker set, which makes the game feel somewhat cobbled together (which is not a bad thing, it's a massive game). I don't intend to alter anything like portraits, but do want to try and draw new tilesets based off of old ones. Can't tell how much it will change the style, but I plan to stick with the high-fantasy. I don't yet know how it'll turn out, so can't say if there's a point in putting anything into the original cope. I'll try to start from, well, the beginning, trying bit by bit as a kind of fanart.
