  2. Every time an update it brings one of the biggest smiles to my face. I can honestly say this game is one of the highlights of each month for me and while that may seem a little depressing to some extent. I thank you for adding just a bit more happiness to my world than there was previously before.

  5. Too tired to keep playing today so I made a 30 minute random run.

1- I lost to Mestar but I think you can defeat him spamming Precise Strike + King's Aura when available. Looks like he is immune or heavily resists Crowd Control.

2- Some real good equipment for sale, but also very expensive (But I do have a save with lots of Sx). Not a big deal since I already found a Mammoth Armor. :)

3- I almost didn't notice that I bought something needed for Varia's weapon. Hope it gives some RP so I can finally max her.

4- How Hilstara gets so much pussy??

    1. You can defeat Mestar pretty easy, but why do you still have King's Aura xD. Used my first Health Potion of the game, and spammed precise strike, yeah.
Hilstara is a bigger player than anyone in the game. Simon has the unfair advantage of a shard :P

    2. You deem King's Aura outdated? What are you using then? ^^

  7. I just recently started playing this, because I heard good things about it. Didn't know anything else about it's story beforehand though and must admit, that I wanted to quit after 5 minutes because this Kai guy was so awful...
Thankfully I didn't! ;) Even though most of the sex scenes are not my cup of tea (way too focused on penises) the game is really a master piece. Therefore I am glad to see there is regular new content for it. Thanks a lot. :)

    1. Glad you're enjoying the game! There's a bit of variety in sex scenes as you get further in, so hopefully a few will be more your cup of tea, but I hope you keep enjoying the gameplay!

      Delete
    2. Oh don't worry I enjoy it a lot. I can even accept the type of sex scenes as necessary part of the story, since Simon is more or less forced into it by the shard inside of him. Also the first sex scenes with Esthera were definitely to my liking. ;)

A suggestion though, when you start investing Pron. I started doing it before Megail became part of the group. Maybe put a hint there that it might be better to solve the Megail issue first.
Also during Yarra's path I never saw an in game hint that visiting the shrine with the dead chosen during day time, could trigger a fight. In case there is none, adding a hint there too would help when playing without the help of a walkthrough.

  8. Finally got to play the update and it was quite enjoyable as per usual. There's just that extra level of detail you don't get with many other games. Having people actually being so happy that the orcs were disciplined and etc made me feel like my choices really did matter.

Can't wait for the next update!

  9. I found a bug!

I could come back with a screenshot (I have a previous save but it would take me a bit of work to get there), but basically it's possible for Neranda (Angry Janine) to be in two places at once. Both in her room where you first met her and at the shrine to the south of her room where she talks aboot her predecessors.

It's possible for both to be on screen at the same time, too, which made it extra weird! (At first I was like, "Who's this dwarf lady who looks a lot like the Queen??)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think as you do things these clones are unlocked for extra dialogue, the main one does not dissapear probably because it needs to be there if the player want to talk to her.

You can finish the arc without talking to the extras.

      Delete
    2. I'm not completely happy with how this looks, but I don't like the alternatives. For example, if I disabled the main Neranda while the other appeared, it would force players to go through all the optional conversations. So yeah, this is something I'm still thinking about. =/

      Delete
    3. What about using a standard "sparkling dot" in front of the shrine and at the entrance of the king's room? That way only a single Neranda is visible, and players will still rush to see what's happening.

Also excelent work with Eustrin as a whole. I haven't seen this much care about choices and consequences since I've played Mass Effect, and right now the storytelling of this game can be considered as good as a good commercial game!

      Delete
    4. The sparkling dot doesn't really convey "optional." I don't think there are many people that won't click it and those that want to avoid it in the situation Sierra was describing wouldn't be happy if they were "forced" into a dialogue due to simple curiosity in my opinion.
Although I agree that should be the system. It's a major role character and those kind of things shouldn't be optional as you're needing to learn more about the situation.
It would be nice if we could find a way to separate areas without making it an entire new "layer" of events and etc. That way you wouldn't "see" the other ones. While one could argue there being multiple at any given time would still be there. It would be a huge difference.

Maybe "after images" of people by giving them a different color tone to their entire sprite versus the normal one?
There's other situations where this kind of thing occurs except it's further away and off screen. I don't think people notice those as much so the area might just need to be expanded off screen with more tunnel like rooms.
      Just spit balling here.

      Delete
    5. I actually do think there's some potential in using a sparkle; it's not so far away from the precedents the game has set so far. I will give it some more thought.

Anyway, glad you liked the update!

      Delete
    6. Another more drastic option might be to rearrange the royal chambers such that the duplicates can't be seen at the same time. Although that might make it less likely that players will notice the conversations becoming available...

  10. Is there a way to actually end the negociation between Megail and the old man before you go to the next part of the plan? I can still see her with him but she still participate in discussion with other npcs. I don't like to leave unfinished business before saying I'm done.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Speaking of unfinished business, is there a way, (in this update) to actually get someone to read the bulletin on the right side of the board? Can I actually get to the deeper tunnels with corrupted monsters right now? I'm hoping someone can give me yes/no answers, for the sake of minimizing spoilers.

And yes, I'm wondering about Megail's negotiation as well. Is that just something that wraps-up off camera after the 3-way scene?

      Delete
    2. Answers:
      1) No, Megail does not finish her negotiations before events interrupt at the end of this version.
      2) Yes, the bulletin can be read.
      3) No, you can't go to the deeper tunnels yet.

      Delete
    3. I've figured out how to read the bulletin, and... Well, dammit.

At least I've unlocked something else noteworthy that I otherwise would've missed. Minimal-spoiler hint for others: you have to speak to a npc twice, and then another npc in two places.

    1. A little bit too OP to be a permanent party member. A little to many Y chromozomes to be an harem member. Too untrustworthy to be an ally.

I see him kinda like Ryuk from deathnote. Someone who is very powerfull and could change the game completely if he only gave a damn. Practically invisible, only the main protagonists are aware of his presence/existance. He follows the hero out of curiosity but wont help unless manipulated to do so. Will definitely terminate the hero if he cease to be entertaining.

That was a meta reference to what a certain IK might have said.
I feel like he'll be helpful in taking out a certain target which Aka doesn't have the experience to yet, as an assassin.

  13. Man, I need to exercise more abstinence. I managed to finish the new content in hour or so, and it feels filling yet not enough for the month or so waiting periods. I mean, there's a lot to do, and I had fun doing quests and stuff to build up dwarf relations, but what promises to happen (a few bonus bosses, taking the war effort to the Incubus Emperor, possibility of getting some new girls for it). I'm just glad I funded stuff the Aram border and infrastructure; really minimized the damage.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hey Charles, what benefits do you get from investing in the Infrastructure?

      Delete
    2. According to the wiki, a decent amount of RP for Hilstrata and a bunch of smaller secret stat bonuses (acceptance, economy, Yhilin country). It's steep at a whole round of Discretionary funding (100%), but better roads make for faster and more reliable traffic, especially in mobilizing an army on short notice, like with the Aram sneak attack.

      Delete
    3. I dont think infrastructure is worth it. like you said its 100% and i could get the perfect result without it. (with no crazed sucubus running around)

      Delete
    4. Perhaps, but like Hilstrata said, infrastructure is often neglected and not taken as seriously. In any case, if other stuff come up that are more apparent, like the countrywide merc control or even aid station, I'll just reload a save before Eustrian. I just think that there are more benefits later, like with repairing the bridge.

      Delete
    5. How do you get the perfect result? I had a bunch of crazed succubi running around-I neglected border protection in favor of infrastructure.

      Delete
    6. It depends on a number of factors, mostly what you invested in. Aram border guard is pretty much necessary as it gives the most secret points (+5 out of 10 to be exact). Other minor bonuses include infrastructure, nation-wide succubus trade, and how disciplined Balia made the orcs. If you get all those instead, you should get just shy of the needed score, still have succubi running around, and get some of the bonuses in stats. Also, it's specifically Aram border; you didn't need to get Ardoheim border (yet).

  16. It just popped to me. The Dwarvens have nativity issues and the Aramites are super conservatives. What will be the effect of launghing corrupting seeds there?

  17. Sierra Lee, may I ask you something? From my previous playthrough of the last version, I noticed that many times, it gets confused if Simon is under illusion or not. For exemple, when he meets the embassador just after taking Yhilin, I can't say if the embassador recognized him or not. I only came to notice that when he is the captain he is in disguise when Ginasta broke it.

So my suggestion is to make a sprite from him when under disguise and change it when it happens. If you don't want to make new sprites, at least edit the current one to show an aura or something.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That's a good idea, though I tend to think he is always on disguise if not mentioned otherwise.

      Delete
    2. Simon is under illusion for almost all of this chapter. I intentionally kept this somewhat unclear, since I figured in general players wouldn't want to worry about this detail but I understand how it makes some sequences ambiguous. I'll consider variants, but the biggest part of the work would be going back and modifying so many past sequences.

      Delete
  18. I was asking myself the same question when you see the girl commander for the second time after the fake attack in the latest update. Is she talking to Simon or Dargai?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. He is using the dark faceset, but by context, I would say that is Simon (as Palina seems to recognize him). Maybe Sierra could change the faceset to be sure.

      Delete
    2. Change the faceset would be really hard. He would need to seek and change each and every time it appear. Change the sprite is easier, only two time for each sequece (one changing to Dargai and other to Simon). Maybe Sierra do it from now on, but search for every line of Simon to change it, I doubt she will do it.

      Delete
    3. Well, it would be about doing a new sprite "Dargai" and substituting every time it's needed.

But yeah, too much effort. Probably more complicated than I know.

      Delete
  19. Haven't played this yet, but hope there's some and more to come for lorewhores- also I dread it, but the next time we see Riala we probably have to fight her, isn't it?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I hope not. But we did have to fight Hilstara back in chapter 1, and that turned out alright.

On the other hand, Riala is a very advanced age for a succubus. Physical duress on top of whatever the Incubus Emperor did to her could end in tragedy.

So to reiterate: I hope we don't have to fight her.

      Delete
    2. Of course I hope we don't have to. But I can very well see that the Chapter 3 or 4 final boss fight.
How many Chapters are there supposed to be, btw? I heard 5 somewhere but I'm not sure. Hope there's enough to visit Philon or Xerxes in some capacity!

      Delete
    3. I've never said the total number of chapters. I will after the end of this one, though.

      Delete
    4. Oh, nice to get some confirmation, thank you. The story is finally shaping up- Especially with the coming war with the Arsehole of Arclent- I'm very excited to see where this goes and how this ends, especially since its not supposed to have a sequel.
What a fantastic world you've built for this game, really :D

  21. It must be said, the Dwarf Queen has a fine case of 'resting bitch face.' Not that I mind, it's a very good face for plotting economic insurrection and instigating a war in the other direction than the one Aram is intending.

There's a line in the Eustrin update, talking around the dwarf-that-isn't. I think Yarra's starting line is, 'Simon, I think you should know that the dwarf behind us... isn't.' Anyway, she goes on to say, 'It's a different sort of illusions, I don't know what to make of it.' 'Illusions' reads pretty awkwardly.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I thought about this too. It'd read more naturally to me as "It's a different type of illusion", or "they're a different type of illusion" if it's multiple illusions. Not sure if it's a dialect thing, though - Colonial English often does things that seem odd to me, like "a ways to go" ("A ways"? Really?).

      Delete
    2. On reread, I think this is likely a case of rephrasing the line incompletely, because "illusion" reads better to me too.

Regarding "a ways" - while this usage isn't universal (and seems to be fairly American), I think it seems logical if you consider "ways" as a different word than "way." The oldest usage of it in the OED is from 1588, and it is clearly being used to mean "distance" as opposed to "path" or "manner." While "We have a way to go" for distance doesn't strike me as wrong, it does strike me as imprecise. I'd only write that if I meant something like, "We have a path to move forward."

      Delete
    3. Interesting, it never occurred to me that it might be a word in its own right rather than a plural form of "way". I guess it must have fallen out of use in British English but not elsewhere, kinda like the way "do the needful" is still widely used in Indian English but sounds completely weird here nowadays...

      Delete
    4. Probably something along those lines - this is one of those cases where the etymology involves the words "unknown" and "ambiguous" a lot. Language is weird!

      Delete
  22. Oh hey, so how do you get to do the deep tunnels thing? Can you?

He keeps saying 'finish your business with Neranda first', but all I have left is the one event...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You can't (at least, not now). The events at the end of the chapter mean you have more important things to worry about.

  23. Nalili seems VERY salty in this chapter. I suppose she's growing up, no longer the sweet-but-naive Nalili I came to love...Children grow up too fast :*(

  24. Bit of an issue. When I went to talk to the elder in the desert, one of his wandering tribemates wandered right into the old man's path, blocking him from continuing the event until he got the fuck out of the way.

    1. Good to fix - all movements during this scene will now go through NPCs. Thanks!

  25. Bug. After you take out slaver merchant you go back to palace and meet Riala informing you where merchant woman is. But if you go to sleep right then rather than going to temple the whole event with negotation must be started anew.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I'd appreciate a little more information on this. Which exact event repeats?

      Delete
    2. Mind you I'm not the one who posted this, but I guess merchant woman is Megail and going to temple means going to talk to Sarai... Now I don't have a save that far back, so that's all I can say. (basically something about before Riala TP's you into the abandoned warehouse)

  26. Gameplay-related Question.

I'm doing a second playthrough on this game. The first time through I started a second petition office in the slums. The second time through I can't seem to trigger it. I cleared out the house with the chosen in it, but can't seem to trigger it before heading off to Ziranthia.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Oh and on a side note. Brilliantly done. This is an awesome game. You should write a book.

      Delete
    2. To be able to fund 2. house of petitions, you need to have 30+ acceptance. For more info: http://thelastsovereign.wikia.com/wiki/Discretionary_funding

      Delete
    3. Yup, Firehelp explained the requirement. Try again after you've done some acceptance-raising events.

As for a book... I've written a few, and I'd love to write them professionally! But for right now I'm focused on game projects, which I mind not at all since I love those too. ^-^

  27. Sierra Lee what about this idea. Orcent will be dominated by Riala? In the war?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Always happy to take suggestions, but you'll just have to see how the plot turns out...

      Delete
    2. It's not like she couldn't take him after we get Riala back on Simon's side... Unless you can't wait to get another scene with Orcent, in which case... Why Riala exactly? There are plenty of women around... (also Riala has it more for Simon than anyone else, I know I.Emperor fucked her brains out, so it's possible, but still)

      Delete
    3. Becouse I.Emperor fucked her brains out and she is the best succubus in her army (i suppose) + orcent is the commander of the army if simon is not near so pirority target.

      Delete
    4. That doesn't seem like much of a reason to me why specifically those two characters, but in the end we both have to wait and see what happens.

      Delete
    5. Becouse Riala/Iris the 2 strongest succubi in the game(In the enemy side) and not hearing about riala (Only long time ago) so she can redebut again.

      Delete
  28. Finally finished all the current content. You are way too modest with your overall game time of around 18-20 hours. Took me more than 50 hours to do all you have created so far.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. 22 hours here, that's more than average but woah, was that your first playthrough?

      Delete
    2. It depends heavily on how fast can you read. Not to mention it's in foreign language for many people (like me), that complicates things even further. I for example have about 55h after Eustrin and mind you I played the game quite a few times before, so I knew what I was doing (though I read all the text again). Now I'm a very slow reader, but still.. I wasn't even wandering, trying to figure things out, because I knew what to do and still ended on more than 55h. If you are a fast reader and preferably english native, about 20h seems right, so there you go.

      Delete
    3. Was my first playthrough. I am also not a slow reader. I read everything though. Made sure to talk to all npc, fight all battles and tried to figure out everything on my own without the help of walkthoughs. Made an exceptions there for investments, since I wanted to have an overview in what I can actually invest in.

So yeah I think 50 hours is a reasonable number for anyone having to explore and not skipping dialogues.

      Delete
    4. English is my second language as well, and first playthrough for version 25.1 took 28 hours, and that's heavily inflated since i left for lunch and dinner etc. with the laptop on, i was hooked that time lmao.
I'm a very completionist guy and I did things twice and stuff (except fight all the battles, I like that you can avoid them. Did all the battles in my second playthrough tho which clocked in at 30 hours- reasonable, since I also did more stuff that I didn't know I could do last time).
50 hours tho, phew! I guess I've sunk in twice of that though over my saves- and it's only been a few weeks that I've started!

  30. Hi! I actually recently found this game after having played it a while back, but I came back to the game after seeing it recently! I've ran into something that seems to be a bug though; I'm at the Summit right now and I can't get the Aram rep to work as mentioned in the wiki. When I tell him on the second day that Unpeople are vets, he abstains on his vote and he does not invite Simon to drinking on the night of the second if you want to save the orcs. I've talk to the people in the wiki and they say that it's not how it's supposed to go, so I've included a link to the save file of just as you start the first part of the votes. Is this a bug due to something I did? Maybe because I didn't trigger some event?

    1. First, you forgot to mention that you made a deal with Aram representative about Yhilin not going to war.
Second, it would be more useful to provide a save file directly before you speak to the Aram representavive on day 2 evening (before he supposedly invites you to have a drink with him) as Sierra can tell better then us mere mortals (she is the programmer, she knows what variables mean what and shit) what happened. Keep this save file up just to be sure (it's from the start of the negotiations). So again, if you could respond to this comment with a save file of yours directly BEFORE talking to the Aram representative on day 2. I'm one of the guys that tried to help you on the wiki, but you won't know since I don't log in (that's how I know).

      Delete
    2. Or, if you don't have a save file before you speak to him anymore, any save file after that I guess.

      Delete
    3. I'm 100% sure that the save file I included in the link is Day 1 before speaking with anyone - ie before I could make any deals, so you can make ALL the choices.

      Delete
    4. Thanks for providing a save, but it would actually be more useful to have a save file right before you speak to the Aramite rep - that would let me check exactly what's keeping him from inviting Simon for drinks. Everything seems fine in the save you sent.

      Delete
    5. The invitation to drinks is in the bladesmaster guild right? Not going to sleep and being invited right?

      Delete
    6. If you get the invitation, the Aramite rep invites you to meet him at the guild, yeah.

    7. I re-did the entire city section and managed to get everything go according to plan, so I'm going to see if I can redo whatever I did that caused my orignal problem to appear and upload that save file.

  31. The wiki states that a hidden Aram score of 7-9 gives the same benefits to acceptance and hidden score as a score of ten, but with a few crazy succubi still running around.

Am I misreading? Seems odd to have a score of ten give less overall rewards (xp and sx from the fights lost) then a score of 7-9.
