  1. I personally enjoy sections that are less complex and more about combat and finding secrets and goodies side of TLS, so it's nice to hear we'll have more of that coming up.

Something I noticed is that Varia seems to have lost an accessory in this update. I had a Slave Pin equipped to her in 0.17.3 and it seems to have left my possession. Was this an intentional change?

    1. I've been on a run of complex sections here, but only because I felt it was most appropriate for these parts of the story. The game will be balanced in the end, so pretty soon things will swing toward the type of stuff you like best. ^-^

In between updates, the two versions of Varia hada slight change in their equipment options for balance purposes. The Slave Pin you have equipped should have been returned to your inventory, though I'm not 100% sure on that.

      Delete
    2. I just imported a save from 0.17.4 to 0.18.2 and I have the same issue as Righan: Varia's equipped slave pin disappears.

      Delete
    3. As of this version, reshaped Varia cannot wear succubus accessories, so the Slave Pin is no longer a valid piece of equipment for her. (She has, however, gained the ability to wear certain other equipment to balance the reshaped and dominated variants.)

      Delete
    4. Understood, but I don't remember seeing the slave pin in my inventory afterward. Maybe I just missed it.

But I did spot a definite bug, albeit a minor one. After Yarra's ambush scene, her sprite replaces Hilstara's in the next scene.

Having finished this update, I enjoyed it and it was worth the wait. But I do have some thoughts. Forgive me if I seem presumptuous or in any way demanding.

Please consider adding more scenes towards the end of the battle. I realize it's probably not feasible to make the battle fully live up to the in-game hype. It would take too much time & effort and possibly bog down the story's pacing. Having said that, it would mean alot to not-quite-so abruptly cut from "the enemy's main forces are here" to "we've won." That part was disappointing. IMO, a big transitional scene or a couple/few small scenes would significantly improve this.

Just a request to consider for a future update.

    5. Nevermind on the missing slave pin. It did get replaced in my inventory.

  2. How do I transfer my saves? This is the first time I have to change versions.

    1. Fortunately, it's easy! Look in the folder of the old version for files with "save" in the name, then move them to the new folder. That's it!

  3. First off, great update - as always!

Second, a few questions / clarifications:
    - There seem to be some changes in the RPs of some characters (correct me if i'm wrong), what are those changes & which scenes do these take effect?
    - I'm also kinda stuck at the part with the 3 minute timer (the one where Yarra seduces a guard to open a gate), i seem to keep getting a Game Over screen after i get the key from the chest and open the hidden area to the location of that woman... am i missing something here (say, maybe i have to eliminate the seduced guard - which i haven't tried, yet... will try that after i post)?

Thanks, and again, keep up the excellent work :D

    1. Look for another hidden area on the map. It should be fairly obvious.

      Delete
    2. If you're still stuck, you need to get into the room with the magic-looking stuff first. Check the entire wall.

      Delete
    3. Bluej, are you talking about the room with the crystal (lower right area)? So, the trigger, is on the wall covering it?

      Delete
    4. Yes and yes.

(and I've got to pay more attention where & when I post)

      Delete
    5. yes, the opening is not in the obvious center as it usually is, but a liiiiiiitle under the center so at first i got stuck there too

      Delete
    6. I think the first question was covered pretty well, but as to the second:
      - The reward for Robin's potions quest has been lowered.
      - Multiple things have changed if you whored out Qum in Stineford.

      Delete
    7. It'd have to be something really valuable to justify that sequence in Stineford.

That said, I do appreciate that you've taken to heart the Telltale Games thing of 'everything has consequences' – and done more than just make it a veneer of 'X will remember that...'

Hey good chapter i found a problem in game in battle the main succubus make a trap (i was hope a battle but not :() after that we return in hq and now problem the succubus have replace mercenary in hq but it stil mecenary that speack and some battle was a little too hard and some was ridicoulsy too easy(the one against orc)

  6. To elaborate upon Opaz's point: after Yarra's ambush, the scene shifts back to Hilstara and co. at the command center. However, Hilstara's sprite is absent, and Yarra's is in its place.

Furthermore, I'd like to ask that you examine Aka's "Deathblow" ability. Enemies afflicted by it lose what seems to be their maximum hp stat upon turn end, but fail to collapse and need to be hit another time to trigger their "+defeat" state. I find this unlikely to be your original intention for the skill's effect.

Another suggestion: in the petitioning segment near the chapter's end, some introspection from Simon regarding each possible choice would be appreciated. I had to reload a save in order to realize Qum to be a better option than Carina for treating the noble head, and I'm left hoping that the other choices I made were for the best.

Lastly, I would suggest your insertion of another line of text prefacing Simon's and Yarra's tower mission—I chose to take on the encounter with +2's of Hilstara and Nalili, which resulted in the succubi dying on the first turn and a slow whittling of the bosses' health with two tank-type characters. Some allusion to the likelihood of succubi-destroying Unmen would have been helpful.

That said, the chapter was a good one and progression definitely seems to be happening. Thank you for your time and effort toward this project. All the best!

    1. I'm aware of the Deathblow bug, but it's a problem with RPG Maker I haven't figured out a way to get around. So far, I just haven't figured out a way to make the engine do what I wanted, so this is what I settled on as a temporary solution.

As for the rest, thanks for your feedback!

    2. Hint: In the System settings under your database section, tick the option for "allow KO's by slip damage."
(This will, however, also allow death by poison which may or may not be undesirable.)
Then, within your Ace Battle Engine script, add:

      target.perform_collapse_effect if target.can_collapse?

Right above all lines that state:

      return unless YEA::BATTLE::MSG_ADDED_STATES

In every place where it does not already exist as such. This fixes an issue where targets slain by damage over time fail to collapse.

      Delete
    3. Thanks, but I have KO by slip damage off for multiple reasons, not the least of which is that Aka would be constantly dead during her route. I also can't manage it by giving Deathblow %HP damage and a unique element, because that would render it useless on immune enemies instead of a solid attack. Ideally I'd like a state that kills on the next turn.

There may be an easy way to do this, but I haven't found it yet. >.<

      Delete
    4. Is there a way to tag a double hit to it so that you can trigger a second attack from it? Now let me just explain that this second attack would be flagged to deal 1 hp damage max no matter what. Basically this would be a way to guarantee that a second instance of damage was processed and hopefully that would trigger the kill. I'm just tossing out a possible workaround thought process to circumnavigate the limitations in the rpgmaker engine. If you can't tag the second blow to be a flat 1 hp of damage then this idea is definitely not a good one to use since it would make a powerful ability too powerful in that instance. The other question I would have is whether that second attack which is basically to trigger the fatality a separate damage case? I've seen some rpgmaker games out there where it summed the multi-hit combo attacks as one damage output. Then in other games you can clearly see in the log where it will actually hit 2 or 3 times and show them each as their own damage or miss. If the underlying scripts in your game are geared to summations of combos rather than allowing combos to process each component as a separate attack in itself then this idea won't work. The problem here is obviously related to the fact that the engine needs an extra expression that triggers when special case KO's are met. Basically that expression would have to call out an extra check for conditions being met and then if conditions were met it would trigger the KO by a forced result that the expression leads to when the answer to the whatif or if expression is met. I'm speaking in a theoretical sense that comes from the whole math logic side of things though. I understand that programming a functional expression like that for an engine that you do not have total control of is sometimes daunting and even impossible depending on hard coded restrictions in the core of the software.

Phew, I really went on with that didn't I? I didn't mean to give a short dissertation there.

  7. A bit short, but isn't mean as an down vote, just my opinion, thought it would be a bit longer to take over, even in such situation.

The hero orc really killed me. I hope we can befriend him with our original hero friend/dude or at least the meeting of the two would be legendary! As an adventure duo helping people in need, even with an catchy intro!

Felt good to see Ivastan again and kicking his butt, somehow even better, because we can do it an other time in the future. >:)
He don't need a cruel end, just let us aim for his balls in the final battle with him. :p

  8. Got a bug to report for 0.18.2.

During the Order Trials in Aka's Path, I get an error saying "Unable to find file: Audio/BGM/Dungeon5 RTP". I have a save file to the Order Trials III optional boss fight and I can't load it since it comes up with that error.

I also noticed an audio change in the Succubus Village during Yarra's Path that sounds similar to the original music in Stineford. Some music changes have been made at the very least!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes, I added a bunch of custom music to the game a while back, and I've been making changes and improvements since then. Though I can't check right now, I'd bet that your problem is that your save is trying to load an old music file that no longer exists.

If you want to recover that save, you should be able to go into your audio folder, copy a file, and rename it to "Dungeon5 RTP" - that should let you continue! And once you leave the map, you should never run into that problem again.

Sorry it was a problem, hope that works for you!

I'm having a hard time keeping Aka up when fighting the Redlight mercs, but I don't really want to advance without getting Aka that sweet 4500 xp.

  13. I rather like that Qum's prostitution has far-reaching consequences, but I'm surprised there are only negative effects. Wouldn't it make sense that saving Varia from being raped or preventing Altina from being a sextoy give her extra RP as she regain trust in Simon.

I mean, her scene, while brutal, was quite unexpected seeing as succubi and prostitution are such a natural fit. It would make sense to treat it as Simon's mistake instead of intentional abuse.

Otherwise, I noticed that buttplugs now work differently. Lust used go up every turn even if the character was not in combat so that a character I did not use for a while would always enter combat with max lust. Now, lust only seem to rise if the character is in combat. Was that a rebalance ? If so, I think I like it. It makes buttplugs less of an obvious pick.

Last point. During chapter 1, in Robin's school, Yarra now walks right through walls just after Robin's first fight instead of using the hallway. Yarra has become the Juggernaut!!!

Can' wait for the next update, as always!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It does make some narrative sense, but I don't think it works for gameplay balance. If the RP reductions were matched by increases, then for many paths there would effectively be no consequences at all. Having said that, the consequences aren't permanent - treated well, Qum will eventually treat it as a mistake and trust Simon completely.

As for lust, that actually has to do with a mechanical change behind the scenes. Making some things consistent had the side effect of causing that change.

Re: Juggernaut - All the movements in that area are set to ignore walls for the sake of people speeding through the text. =P

  14. I can't get the office orgy scene even though the succubus who gives you the complaints tells me to talk to the lady on the second floor. Is this a bug or am I missing something? If it's a bug how should I report it?

    1. Uh, commenting here or in any of the threads is usually good for reporting bugs. I'm around!

I doubt this is a bug, however. The office orgy is an additional reward you get if you finish all the activities exceptionally well, so it's entirely possible to finish that quest and get some of the rewards without also getting the orgy.

  15. Well I thought I wish you an nice weekend! (even it's a bit early for that) The last Sovereign is one of my favorite RPGs next to Dragon Age Origins and Skyrim. Definitely the best RPG Maker game I ever played and one of the best smut games as well. Wish I could give you monthly a bit of money or bake an cake or something. At least I can you give an bit emotionally support.

And I'm really like it how good you manage all the commands and the information output in general, like on Fenoxo's and the Legend of Krystal forum, not only for you but for Nomo too!

  16. Hey,

Found this game and just finished playing through to the current end - thanks for making an excellent game, the writing is great, and I love the interaction between the characters. I also think that combat is well-balanced and enjoyable, with there being no set 'best' characters and multiple combinations that work well together. When you need to split the party, I don't have any feeling of 'Oh great, I need to struggle through with the B team' that I had in games like Final Fantasy VI.

  17. I'm stuck in the mansion during the infiltration. I get to the room no problem, but the Arcane Unperson and Failed Unperson just beat me mercilessly. That Unperson Aura is beastly, and they have a tendency to spam it and tag-team it.
I've easily played the fight ten times. I've come close exactly once, and that was three tries ago.
    Does anyone have any advice?
(the wiki doesn't cover this quest yet)

Also, enemies seem to constantly know exactly where I am on the map and make a bee-line for me. Even through walls.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I advise to bring Carina as your fourth member. Start the fight stacking Shield of Purity with Carina and Aka's Disabling Assault on the Failed Unperson, while Yarra throw Sexual Torment on it until her skills are disabled.

After that, just hit it as hard as you can until it dies and do the same thing with the other unperson (minus Sexual Torment) until its dead.

Heal as needed with Simon and Carina. Recast your buffs/debuffs before they expire (and remember that they stack three times).

      I hope this helps ;)

      Delete
    2. I used Simon, Aka, Yarra, Varia for my fight. Varia, NAlili, and Vhala's multiple attack abilities are difficult to resist using, so I pretty much spammed Varia's sword dance or whatever it's called. I won in four rounds, healing with Simon and guarding with Yarra, disabling with Aka. I did use one potion, thrown by Yarra to Varia. Just a 500hp potion and it's my first of the game.

Offense was the best defense in that fight, for me.

      Delete
    3. In terms of the enemies, I would advise killing them for free XP, but since you are having a hard time with the boss fight it is likely tedious to do so, at least until you beat that boss.

As Felix suggested, Simon/Aka/Yarra/Carina is the most reliable combination here. Those Unperson hit hard at first even with the best possible gear.

Remember you can use Cleanse to remove Sexbind, so once you have two Shields of Purity up and used Disabled Assault on both Unperson, you shouldn't take too much damage (potentially nothing), to the point you can repeat the process of healing/rebuffing/debuffing until the Unperson are defeated. Focusing on killing one at a time makes things much easier to handle, but you still need to apply Weakening Stab/Disabling Assault. I'd suggest taking out the Arcane Unperson first, since that makes it easier for you to Cleanse Sexbind to finish the battle quicker.

If you have a save file before the war itself, try equipping your best items only to Simon, Aka, Yarra, Hilstara, Nalili and Carina. Before attempting the 3 minute run, equip your best items to the party Felix suggested. Unequip anything needed from Robin, Varia or if you have her Altina since their not really involved in anything related to combat that is challenging. MDEF is more useful here to survive those Inhuman Blow/Aura attacks I believe.

If your burning through your MP fast with Simon, when attacking with him try to use Stunning/Unified Strike instead of Precise Strike. The former attacks still do more damage then a normal attack I believe and the Unperson can (very uncommonly) be stunned in this case.

In terms of the roaming enemies, kite the first enemy in that comes at you in the carpet room as high as possible. If you run a far enough distance from those enemies, they can no longer chase you. So you can repeat the process with the second enemy in the chest room using the sofas. It gives you enough time to grab an item in a chest before attempting to kite again. Doing this for both enemies means you can make it into the crystal room safely and back out.

Hope some of that is also useful.

    4. @Grant do you have Dominated Varia? Because I do not get the option to use her as a Party Member for the Mansion Infiltration, and I reshaped her.

      Delete
    5. @Righan I personally tried both versions of Varia and neither were available in that portion, so it can't be just that. Maybe it's tied to her Relationship points, like Aka's airship fight?

Seriously, I'm amazed by amount of variables Sierra squeezed in this update. Definitely worth trying new gameplays.

    8. I have reshaped Varia, I'm too nice to dominate her, and I was able to pick her.

However, I realized she was actually doing something else while that was going on? So it could be a bug.

Regardless, though nalili is vulnerable, she doesn't die in one turn so as long as you keep her healed she still kills them unless she gets locked out of her sex moves in one turn. I tested it, and it worked.(I had to fight defensively after turn 3 but the first one was killed by then.)

Anybody should be able to do what I tested since I more or less avoid fights that I can, and was about level 24ish. It's REALLY close to feeling impossible though, so it seems grinding(What little of it there is) is slowly becoming a necessity with the game.

I really want Aka to have a multi-attack; I mean she uses double daggers!

  22. started playing the game after i played noxian nights. I likeit, but there is a bit that i don't like. I'm at the fort in Withered Mountain, and its annoying me how the main character is asking the succubi to join him, but the orcs don't get a choice, they are just getting mind controlled.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. To clarify, Simon isn't mind controlling any of the orcs, merely displaying his identity/power. There IS a moral argument that the difference isn't huge, but it's key to me. Most orcs have only animal-level intelligence, so reasoned arguments would be ineffective.

For whatever it's worth, I tried to write a clear difference between Simon's behavior dealing with orcs that just want to destroy and those more comparable to succubi in intelligence (like the treasury-guarding couple, in that scenario). This will be an ongoing theme in the story as the orcs begin to change.
