Version 0.27.0
 - Final iteration of Yhilin before the war.
 - Two new plot sex scenes.
 - Four new Synergy Skills available if you have enough affection.
 - There are new (retroactive) consequences to researching Dari's condition. Continue a save from the waiting screen to receive your proper benefits.
 - New Uyae conversations around Ari-Yhilina.
 - During previous Yhilin iterations, you can now summon more people to the throne room. No balance changes.
 - New Eustrin mausoleum graphics thanks to Lamsey.
 - Lucy now has more unclothed images during her naked scenes thanks to Bug Reporting.
 - Bug Reporting is also responsible for the adorable succubus children. Expect to see more of them over time. ^-^
 - Various enemy stat changes (mostly for consistency and to remove unintended exploits).
 - Back in Stineford, there's now a visual effect when the door is destroyed.
 - If you invested in the demon-ridden mineshaft, it now appears properly in your investment ledger.
 - The shop in the outskirts can now reopen depending on investments. This is a retroactive change, but doesn't affect balance much.
 - Several quest log items had been neglected, most notably Conquerer. These have been fixed, though your quest log may need refreshing.

Version 0.27.1
 - Made a major change to the magical shop in the Rose District. If you fulfill the requirements, you'll now have a chance to buy Orgasmic Empire tier equipment here before the war! This one is a balance chance, but can be utilized by any save prior to the ending screen.
 - Various flavor additions around Yhilin.
 - The usual polishing and bugfixes.

Prepare for war, everybody! I am very busy with the launch of Kingdom of Deception, so I'll keep my notes brief. Hope you enjoy! ^-^

  1. Aw yiss, been looking forward to this all day. Grats on the release of your other game, I'll have to check that out later as well.

    1. Same here, though I'll have to wait for the public release on June 1st.

Thanks for the wonderful games, Sierra!

    2. Happy to provide them, enjoy!

    3. And, done! I especially liked the new throne summoning conversations, loaded up a few old saves to view most of 'em.

One bug I noticed was that, when ending the chapter by talking to the queen, Robin prompts you to start a research even if you've already finished all of them.

      Delete
    4. Dang, I thought I had that fixed. -_- Question: did you accept Qum's research project?

      Delete
    5. Yup, every crystal is filled out in the research room.

      Here's the save file: https://www.mediafire.com/?nbevts8t86bxzj6

    6. I thought it was weird, but I guess it was to remind us that Robin was actually given a bonus research opportunity for clearing things with the Thaumaturgy order ASAP. I went to check with her just in case but I did all of them, including Qum's spontaneous research project a couple updates back.

      Delete
    7. Oh that's a bug? I thought there was one additional research I was missing and it was giving me the option to research it but I couldn't get to it. (I thought there was a final crystal in the middle of the room or something to that effect)
I'm guessing you didn't include a final reward research for those that got the extra on top of finishing everything because it would effect what changes players could and couldn't do? I know you're big on not forcing players in a direction.

      Delete
    8. My plan was to have exactly enough research slots to cover everything if the player had maximized earlier results. There's one too many slots because I made a mistake.

      Delete
  2. WOOOOO! Thanks for the update. I can't wait to dive in.

  3. I just want to compare army scores with the other players if that's alright. My final result is:
    Army Size: 201
    Army Quality: 27

    1. 195/27 here. Went with infrastructure instead of the 100% mercenary option. Seemed more worthwhile than getting that little army size bonus.

      Delete
    2. Replayed that part to check what I get with 100% mercenary regulation. Doesn't give a quality bonus and "only" +8 army size. Would have 203/27 if I choose that. The only way I can think of that this number could be higher would be if I had also hired the elite mercenaries in the beginning.

    3. I tend to follow guides so I used the wiki for help (especially on the battle of Yhilin to get the best outcome possible). Infrastructure is implied to be a benefit in choosing between helping Yhilin and Aram first, and makes travel time easier; so yeah, I think the steep 100% is worth it. I probably would have gotten a bit higher, but I prioritized in building a stable, defensive city instead of flat-out offensive. Even with all the funding I got in getting nearly maxed out Victory and small Chaos/Collateral possible, Ardoheim border and countrywide merc recruitment (and noble gratuity) were the only investments left I couldn't afford. I think doing nearly as good as I could on Yarra's recruitment and the orc development helped bolster the numbers too.

    4. 197/26. i hope having under 200 dont come back to haunt me

    5. 182 - 24

What did I do wrong? They have FANCY WALK!

      Delete
    6. Oh, Orc extermination happened, maybe it affected till now?

      Delete
    7. OK, what in the world did you guys do? I thought I was doing pretty well, but I just checked in and got 83/11! o_0

      Delete
    8. Most of you guys don't need to be concerned at all - while army size is good, there will be a whole lot of different factors involved with the war. I consider 200+ to be quite large.

Kailen might have to make some difficult choices, though. A very large number of variables go into the orc army calculation, so it's hard to say the cause. I don't know if the wiki is updated yet, but you might want to check there and see if they have an answer.

      Delete
    9. For sake of comparison, I'll try to list what I did (because I didn't think I would get the best numbers):
*Got all six unique orcs *recruited succubi from the secret tower and Altina's mountain dungeon (also recruited her) *rejected orc extermination bill *performed as near perfect as possible in the battle of Yhilin (high Victory Points, close to 0 collateral damage and chaos) *Only invested in one double campaign against nobility *infested the mine with demons in Aka's route and then bought it in discretionary funds *Got 13 volunteers for Yarra's Forging Ties quest (since I ended up whoring Qum for more pr0n, I couldn't send her to the head house of Thelon) *Got the best results in Balia's orc development (2 discipline, 2 intelligence, 1 evolve; found all the orc body seeds) * *50 Acceptance obtained? (Might have something to do with the Yhilini army deciding to help in the war) *managed to hire city mercs

      Delete
    10. 211/27, which I'm pretty happy with.

      Delete
    11. You're comparing yourself to people who likely min/maxed using the wiki. Sierra generally has a policy of balancing everything so you can 'win' even if you've deliberately picked the worst outcome every time, so no need to stress!

      Delete
    12. Yeah. The fun thing about this game is that you can play however you want with so many choices. I'm definitely guilty of using the wiki, so anyone who got this far on their own are bigger risk takers than me acting without foreknowledge.

      Delete
    13. Crap, I thought I was doing really well with 175/24.

Hopefully the 15 War Prep makes up for it.

      Delete
    14. Yeah but what about succubi and human forces

      Delete
    15. 191/26 for me on my First run. Man I thought I was doing pretty well; I'm pretty jealous now! I wish I had gotten the over 200 mark. I don't use the wiki for this kind of thing since I replay the game every update.
      (I'm my own wiki hehe)
I'll have to make some more runs to see what I did "wrong." When it comes to my lower numbers.

      Delete
    16. 184/24 here. I probably could've done better at the expense of something else. Admittedly, Robin has all her research done... Also, almost maxed Orilise's affection... Just 1 point short! In fact, got all but Lynine (of those actually currently in the harem) over 80 points. 6 of them maxed out and locked, plus Janine too...

      Delete
    17. SIX unique orcs?

Orcent, Hero Orc, Stark, Mean Green, Implevon the Third... who am I missing?

      Delete
    18. *double checks wiki* You got all of them, including the story-required dead orc you find in Zirantian. Since it's... well, dead, that's probably why it didn't register to your mind right away.

      Delete
    19. In case that you want to know how the Army scores are calculated and what factors take a part on it (spoiler: a lot :-P), there has been a big update to the Army page. Kudos to the unregistered user who did the work.

      Delete
    20. Geez looking at the army page there are really a lot of factors I didn't think of. My orcs "just" having 9 strength was the biggest hit to my numbers... When I will replay the game I probably trade a bit of intelligence for at least 10 strength then. Without changing any other decision that should get me to 205/28 then.

      Delete
    21. When I will replay the game I probably trade a bit of intelligence for at least 10 strength then. Without changing any other decision that should get me to 205/28 then.

But your Orcent (who will have at some point prat of the party roster again) will be weaker as the transforming process...

      Delete
    22. @Lostone2: Will he really be weaker? Oh I forgot the Orc you get for 10 int. So I guess dicipline is the stat I should get to 8 then.
My breeding stats were 9str/10int/10disc . If I leave discipline at 8 and get str to 11, I still meet 4 criteria to have the best outcome in orc breeding. Orcent should have even more attack power with those stats and probably some less defense.

      Delete
    23. This comment has been removed by the author.

      Delete
    24. Just want to make this thing clear. What Lostone bases his speculation on is the fact that the more criteria you meet for Orcent's transformation (up to 5), the better Balia's response is. Now, whether there is an actual difference in stats for Orcent between just 4 or all 5 criteria met knows only Sierra for now. It is likely, but no one knows for sure. Because as far as general orc stats go, you get all bonuses on just 4 criteria met. It's also possible that even the strength does have some influence on Orcent's stats, we simply do not know now.

      Delete
    25. @Firehelp: Having 4 criteria instead of 5 would only cost 2RP. Had Balia at 85, so would only drop to 83, which is enough for max bonus from her.

      Delete
    26. But yeah, concerning just Orcent's stats, I think the base Orc breeding stats will reflect Orcents character stats. Met criteria shouldn't really play a role anymore then, since they already got included, with the +1 for sapience you get for 4 criteria.

  4. There's a typo when Simon talks to Esthera: 'provide you succubi some training.' I assume that should be 'your', since there are none of Simon's succubi involved in the conversation.

  5. I love the Succubus Children- they are so adorable <3 I want some of my own~ I mean I know my Princess calls me Daddy, and I've got my adopted daughter but Succubus children!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Aren't they? =D I have even more sprites for succubus kids, you will see more of them when the plot gets to a stage where they fit.

      Delete
    2. Oh my goodness! =D I can hardly wait! This is quite exciting, everything is kicking off and we get all these cute little kids running around our kingdoms due to our choices. Amazing, truly spectacular~ This game is probably the best thing I've ever played. Alignment is exactly how I feel about a lot of issues, in society in general. Simon voices so many logical things- we get all these cute details for very small decisions that we make. Overall making for a completely unique and fun experience to play through again and again.

I finally got Aka to 100% affection this update too which is nice! I think I understand the final 5% came from weeding out the corruption. It's nice for a game to finally allow me to choose such simple but intricate decisions. Even giving people so many chances to try and do something that has a more acute effect if employed later. I applaud this kind of story telling. Truly- art among art.

If I may ask- are you satisfied with your work thus far? I figure you wouldn't release it if you weren't satisfied but I mean on the whole- are the decisions following the narrative you wanted them to? I am also curious if you enjoy playing the game yourself when you get a chance or since you know what happens; maybe you wouldn't enjoy it as much?

You obviously don't have to respond to this long thing or even answer the questions. I'm just a naturally curious individual and thought I'd ask. Thank you for your time in this project, as always I hope you continue to enjoy yourself. ^_^

      Delete
    3. Thanks! There are so many ways to do player choices and potential pitfalls with all of them, so I'm always happy to hear from people who find the combination I've chosen satisfying. ^-^

As a creator I tend to focus on shortcomings, but yes, as a whole I'm satisfied. The game is on track with my original plans, even somewhat close to the number of updates I'd planned. Obviously some things change in the development process, but I feel like these things are improvements.

Though I can't truly experience my game as a player, since I created it, I do enjoy the process of playing it. Hope that doesn't seem weird/arrogant, but I try to create the sort of games I want to play.

      Delete
    4. Oh it's definitely my pleasure to compliment you on such, without you this kind of thing wouldn't have existed after all- so all the kudos must be said! It's definitely a satisfying experience. =3c

I'm glad the game is going in such a direction when it comes to your plans. Thank you for sating my curiosity on that front.

Ah I see. No it's completely understandable. I'm working with my own game right now-
(also in RPG maker as a test for concept.) I enjoy playing it but obviously do not get the same sort of surprises players might, instead I get an overall satisfaction when something plays out properly and I can move on to the next facet of the event or script. I'm really happy that you took some time to satisfy this part of my curiosity too; thanks again and I appreciate the response. It's hard to find people that can understand the process that goes into making something like this.

Keep up being a beautiful and awesome game designer/creator. I'll continue looking forward to your releases far into the future, take care and may good health always find you and those by extension of yourself. ^^

  6. For the retroactive Dari change, do I miss something when not replaying?

    ReplyDelete

    1. The retroactive part is relationship points. If you continue from the most recent waiting room (the green one that signifies the end of the version) then you'll get a chance to receive the appropriate number and you can continue without replaying.

  7. Not sure if this is a bug, but despite having funded both Border Reinforcements and both Merc Regulations Petitions they're still there. I can't funded them again and their dialogue is the same "we've done what we can" thing you get after funding them.

Mightn't be a bug, but expected them to leave after having funded both their options.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Is it that the NPCs are still there, or are you still being given the options to invest? For this version, I gave both a new page in which they confirm if you've invested in both their options. I considered making them disappear, but felt that this was better.

      Delete
    2. Checking again and it seems I was remembering 27.0 rather than the new one. No more options to invest, just "borders never been more secure" and "no more problems with mercs". Thanks for that.

      Delete
    3. Sure thing! I think details like this are an important part of making all the player choices satisfying.

  9. When I read the patch notes about Succubus children, I was like: "meh". WRONG. I was wrong! They are so adorable! Cute.

Anyway, I have a question I am kinda surprised no one is asking. Maybe I missed something or what? Please do inform me if so. WTF happened with the Qum's spell? Like what happened storywise? I mean Qum says she wants people to be happy. And after it's cast, the only person that mentions it is Robin, that says, I've done everything I can to help her not fail the spell (something like that). And that's it. Like what effect did it have then? Just improvement of the mood of the population of Yhilin? Or just people in Ari-Yhilina? How is no one asking this? Am I really the only one, who is curious about this? Or am I stupid and missing some explanation? Again, I'm asking for storywise effect, not mechanics. Surely, the effect would be known now. At least Qum would know what is the spell supposed to do. Why doesn't she even mention that to Simon then?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Glad you liked them. ^-^

Qum has finished her spell, but has not yet used it. It's strange enough that Robin is not entirely sure what it does, and Qum hasn't tried to explain. I admit that Simon would probably have asked her until she could explain, but... I hope it will be worth it when you find out.

      Delete
    2. See, and I understand your explanation, it makes sense (although it is weird, but acceptable). BUT (as always), this should be obvious from some dialogue in the game itself. Make some dialogue in which either Robin or Qum says: oh yea, the spell is ready to be cast, but it needs the right time to be cast, which is not now (or w/e explanation you see fit). And then, of course, once it's actually cast (I'd guess after we return from the war or something), make sure that again someone IN THE GAME says oh yea remember the spell Qum made? Well, we're casting it now. Something like that.

Also, one more thing. The "blue" elf that we brought back from Elven lands through Forging Ties quest (next to House Rose) still says the same line even after returning from Eustrin. Now, maybe this is intentional, but it felt to me that almost everyone got at least something new to say, but she (the elf) still says the same: I wonder whether I should move from the capital; which honestly after like half a freaking year! is really odd (since we got back from Elven lands, could be like half a year game time, no?)... Is this intentional? I mean it's just a minor thing, but it is weird is what I'm saying.

      Delete
    3. Nah, it'd be better like it is, and then in an important time, Qum comes forward and says "I can do that!" saving the day, then explains that it's what she gained from her research.

      Delete
    4. Though Qum could say that she finished her research, but it's secret.

      Delete
    5. You know what? Wanna make it all special and top secret... W/e, but she SHOULD at least mention it to Simon of all people, c'mon...

One more thing. When Robin makes her custom crystal, she says had she done it later, she'd make it better. Is that actually a thing or just banter? Considering for other custom items it doesn't matter, when you make them, I'd guess just banter, but I'd like a confirmation for this.

      Delete
    6. Qum now has a new line if you chose her research, though it doesn't reveal much. Let me just say that there's no downside to her research (unless there was something else you needed more) and that I think the eventual reveal will be fun.

Regarding the elf: This is an oversight, I've given her a new line.

Regarding Robin's crystal: She's just a perfectionist. It's beneficial to create one now, but she's correct that she will be able to create a better one later.

      Delete
    7. Robin's crystal - You mean like a completely different crystal from different material(s), but for the same slot? Do I understand correctly? Um... OK, but like why wouldn't she rather make like, something else? I mean sure, later something will be perhaps better on that slot, but that will be the case for all the other slots as well... Though one can argue that making robes or a helm would be harder... I guess why not. Will that be the case for all the custom items? I mean most of the group doesn't even have any custom items yet and you already mention tier 2 custom items... That's what seems strange to me. Or only a few of the characters gets any custom item at all? Because it will take like till the end of Chapter 3 to get all the custom items that we know so far about and that's like half the characters. And we might get even some more till the end of the game. Anyway... :)

      Delete
    8. One more thing (haven't I said this already? probably not). I remember there used to be a lamia in Simon's army and even though we never heard her name, she was still leader of a group from Withered Mountains (so like, kinda important). Did she die, when fighting the orc horde? Or if not, why isn't she in the caves under the palace (like the other succubi that knows who Simon really is). Or is she no longer part of the army? Why would she leave though? I mean we've seen a bunch of succubi, but no lamias at all (on Arclent). Was it the last lamia on Arclent or what? I mean if lamias are born by a random chance shouldn't there be a few at least on Arclent as well? If you don't wanna reveal why there are no lamias, fine, but what happened to that one we've never seen since fighting the orc horde then?

      Delete
    9. Most of the characters will get one custom item. In rare cases, they will get two. For example, Aka's custom knife will get an upgrade since it's so old. Robin's crystal is another exception, because she's a perfectionist and she'll want to try again. Generally speaking, custom equipment won't be made entirely obsolete in the future.

The lamia leader hasn't died or anything, but she's in hiding. Yhilini have a hard enough time accepting succubi, much less non-humanoids. You'll see more lamias in the future when conditions are right for them.

      Delete
    10. I mean Aka could also get a second knife, because she uses 2 weapons, right? Varia gets 2 weapons... BTW
Aka's Custom Knife > Sylvan Dagger
I'm saying that just to point out that Aka's "old" knife is doing just fine (so far).

So she makes a completely new crystal? Wouldn't it make more sense to just upgrade the old one? (storywise, not gameplay-wise) Since she would not have to get another fresh crystal. Um, so you can actually not make the first crystal or will that be mandatory to make the better one? (you can ignore this if you are not sure yet)

I'm not really a lamia fan myself, but seeing a few here and there would be refreshing. Diversification of species. As Yarra would say it, the more the merrier. ;) Also, my acceptance score is SO HIGH, that I'm certain that wouldn't be a problem for my Yhilin! J/k, people are racists all the time, I know... (I mean in Orgasmic Empire, even succubi are discriminating against lamias, hardly humans would treat them better)

      Delete
  10. I found a couple of bugs when I reloaded a older save. I wanted to switch to contacting Neranda to using letters so I loaded to pre-Zirantia. The succubus that appeared inside the cathedral during the newest Yhilin update is always at the cathedral now, even pre-Andra. It was pretty funny seeing Andra making her speech and there's just a succubus standing in the corner.

Second is the elf mage that played a part during aka's path with the demon mine spell and is part of the war prep this patch. She only says her war prep dialogue now.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Cathedral succubus is a mistake, she will be fixed!

I'm not sure the elf is bugged, though. The event dialogue depends mostly on acceptance levels, so if you have high acceptance early on, you'll skip to the war prep part. By the way, that elf is a dude.

      Delete
    2. I'm between Zirantia and Eustrin atm and I can spam the message on the elf, which means I can gain an arbitrary amount of points for war prep and should be fixed.

      Delete
    3. You're correct, it'll be fixed next version!

      Delete
  11. WHAT!? That's one feminine dude :s I need to rethink everything.

I got a couple more questions though. I switched a slum investment to succubus fighting ring, will there be a physical fighting ring to visit because i've been searching without any luck. I thought maybe it would take place in one of the buildings we can't enter right now. Also if I invested in taking over the demon-infested mine, it said in the update that it will be in my ledger now but I cant find it.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The guy is clearly a male. I mean he's an elf, what do you expect. Have you seen Ardoheim's ambassador? Now THAT'S a feminine dude! And the fighting ring is at the place, where Aka fought in the ring in her path... I am really not sure, how can you miss that...

      Delete
    2. This art style has some relatively feminine men, but a lot of the facesets are clearly divided by gender, so there's no question about it.

As for the fighting ring: you have physical access to the one Firehelp mentioned. Everything else is flavor for the time being.

Regarding the demon-infested mine: it will show up as "Private Mineshaft" if you've invested in it.

      Delete
    3. Spoke too soon: there was a typo in the ledger about the Private Mineshaft. It should appear correctly in the next version.

      Delete
    4. Wait Ardo's ambassador was male too? I know nothing :(

And I meant if you use to invest in nalili's idea. An npc in the bar above the ring Aka fought in said he wished the new sex ring was closer.

      Delete
    5. You meant the sex fighting ring... I get it now. And I saw what you mean by the NPC. Well, unless I misunderstand, the sex fighting ring is in the same place as the normal one. Just sometimes there are humans fighting and sometimes there are succubi fighting. So it's like the same place just modified for succubi as well. Now, what that guy says at the bar I don't really understand, when I think about it (I haven't really paid attention to him much till now)... Is it that the sex ring is in a completely different place, Sierra? That's what Calvin Wang is asking and honestly, he has a point... From what the NPC in the top left of the bar above the ring says, it does kinda sound like there are 2 separate rings instead of 1 ring (to rule them all!). Is that the case?? If not WTF is the NPC talking about?

      Delete
    6. Ah, I was wondering where "Private Mineshaft" was in the ledger. Makes the whole "slums solution of filling with demons" idea worthwhile, as well as the one-time funding in seizing the mine. As for the sex ring, I'm guessing it's going to be seen and used after the war.

      Delete
    7. There are two rings: the reopened one you can visit, and the sex fighting ring that you fund. The latter exists elsewhere in Ari-Yhilina and cannot be visited at this time.

      Delete
    8. Was the Private Mineshaft something you had to invest in really early on? Also, I don't have anyone mentioning the sex fighting ring. The funding I provided in the second petitions house was for starting the process of reopening the one that Aka fought in, and the guy just talks about how he can't believe someone bankrolled getting the ring reopened, and about possibly expanding it. It doesn't look like it will be reopened though until after the war. Did I miss something earlier for that too?

      Delete
  12. Not sure if this is relevant, but I think I've found a bug. After I invest in mercenary regulations, the guy at the former Reval's camp in the Outskirts offers to establish a new office for the mercs. He uses the phrase "The countryside is actually more regulated than the cities..." if I fund only CITY regulations. And he says: "We have uregulated country mercenaries wandering into theoutskirts..." if I fund only COUNTRYSIDE regulations. Shouldn't it be vice versa?
Also wanted to ask, if I understand correctly and there is no chance to establish this office at the current stage of the game?

    1. You are correct, the lines are indeed swapped. Also no, Megail clearly says it is not feasible before the war.

    2. Well, thanks for the response. The lines are not really a problem. The point is that the investments not to be swapped at more important checks during the war.

    3. No worries, I just got the lines swapped around. This isn't likely to happen during a more important event, not only because that will get more testing than flavor text, but because they won't be embedded checks like this. Thanks for bringing it up!

    1. Well, I freely admit the Yhilin updates have less gameplay, but I think the Eustrin update had as much content as any I've released.

Aka is there training her assassination skills no matter what. I had her there mainly so the training yard wouldn't be completely deserted if the player didn't get any synergy skills.

  18. Question: Is the Aram supply route going to be useful in Aram battles or is it just there as a solution to finding a supplier for the battle of Yhilini? I've got two supply routes already and enough pron to buy the aram supplier, but since it comes in at a loss I was wondering if it was worth it to invest in it early or at all.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I know the Aram supplier has nothing to do with the battle of Yhillin. The only two suppliers that affect that battle are the one available at start of Megail's route in chapter 2, and the gained from one time investment offer Megail makes at the end of chapter 1.

As for whether upcoming battles are affected by the Aram supplier, or the Eustrin supplier, or the suppliers in Ardoheim... Well, we can only assume for now.

    1. I'm sorry, WHAT now? It "INVALIDATES" her? Really now? Well, I suppose you should use characters that aren't invalid then... FFS, hold your horses, she will get her synergy skill eventually.

      Delete
    2. Altina didn't get a threesome scene in Ardoheim either, but did play a role in keeping the elven quarters from burning down. She's meant to be a secret character that you can choose to recruit or not. I'm betting that if she does get a synergy skill, it will be with another secret character. Probably with the "really good elf mage" that she needs to make her second wand.

    3. I'm not complaining, just suggesting.
I don't think we're going to get an elf mage btw. The next elf we get is DEFINITELY a bow-wielder. C'mon! The bows can't have been a joke :P
I get what you mean by that. She is an optional character, it's useful to not force her in. But just felt she was a little left out. But yeah!

    4. I'm reasonable confident that both Altina and Varia (at least the saner versions) will get their Synergy skills next, probably tied to RPs levels as it happens with some of the already available ones.

    6. Why not a "Really good mage" that uses bows instead of staves? That would be pretty interesting since nobody fills the "magic sword" niche yet (except aka with robin in the party, but that's only fire. also a nice throwback to steiner and vivi in final fantasy 9).

they could have various magical arrow attacks, like for elemental damage or inflicting status conditions. so, altina with a bow basically XD

it would also be a good chance to use things that i hadn't found much use for like the thug robes or sylvan cloak, thug orb, and sylvan gloves to tailor their stats more toward physical or magical damage assuming they have a respectable growth in each.

although the bows could also be for dari. vhala used a bow, so it might be an unperson thing.

  23. I have a strange question about Simon's scar! Why do it even exists?
There is a healing magic after all. Or Simon don't want to heal it? Or he can't heal it for some reason?
And why do nobody in game asks Simon about scar? Because people with scars should look strange in the world where we have a healing magic.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. im not sure about beforehand, its probably because he didn't want it healed. but moving forward, after integrating with the incubus king shard? yarra actually explains that one. its because thats how he sees himself, and his appearance is largely based on his subconscious.

...i do kinda wonder what everyone else has been seeing though, with him running around as "Dargai, top Commander in the Doom King's forces." Said Doom King being ironically lacking in the doom department. It's hilarious the names people are getting from these orcs.

      Delete
    2. Healing magic exists, but it isn't perfect. If someone receives a serious enough wound and it goes long enough without proper healing, it will leave a scar that requires serious cosmetic magic to remove. That's why you do see a few characters with scars, mostly mercenaries and fighters.

The current party has plenty of healers and is pretty strong, so they're not likely to acquire new scars. Simon was relatively weak and unsupported for most of his life, though, so he has several.

  24. its been a long time since i last played. actually, the end of the game was before just before simon's time in the orgasmic empire back then XD

im glad i redownloaded and played through this. i love the new characters. i have noticed that the difficulty present in sections like the stineford spider den, dungeon of horrors, and unperson warehouse doesnt ever really come up again even in optional things. is this intentional? i feel like it's intentional, since you start getting rewarded for NOT obliterating everything you encounter and instead picking your targets with care. the difficulty instead of in battle mostly stems from choices. choices are hard. you might want to go over some of the old content though, with the retroactive music and sprite changes you made some things...broke a little. the onyl thing that jumps immediately to mind is that theres no music playing when yarra fights off the then-incubus king (now known as the incubus emperor).

really i think you did a remarkable job with the unpeople. the warehouse sets up some VERY negative expectations, but then you meet vhara. i like vhara. its funny seeing her play the straight man to nalili's antics. and dari. dari is just a treat. she makes the best faces, and i hope that doesn't change when or if we ever figure out how to...rehuman(?) her. orilise has a very nice face too. that evil grin with the shadows over her eyes is hot, and was the thing that made me choose her over lynine initially. i was not led to regret that decision at any point in my interactions with her. shes truly fantastic, and easily the superior leader elf in all regards. possibly best elf period. super sexy.

one little suggestion on balance though. probably meaningless to you, and i can understand you not wanting to change it, but i feel like the succubi get kind of screwed. metaphorically speaking. they can get shut down by both silence AND sexbind, where humans (and unhumans. aaaand presumably orcs) are only affected by silence. perhaps make succubi resistant or immune to silence? i can see why that might not be ideal because sexbind is REALLY rare, but it strikes me as not exactly fair to them.

and a question: why is simon apparently immune to sexbind? is it because shutting off only specific abilities would be too much trouble or is there an actual explanation i missed?

actually a second question. levels are in the high 30s to low 40s now, and chosen immitation, which was pretty shitty anyway, is now gone. carina still has exactly zero attack spells. are we EVER going to regain access to divine-type damage again, or is our party restricted only to arcane- and sexual-type?

as for those comparing the army stats, im 194/26.

i couldnt afford the 100% mercenary payment, and really only did infrastructure last-minute because simon complained about it, so the nobles were only able to hire a small amount of mercenaries. i was able to effectively control them with just a double campaign in round 1 and taking over the northern airfield.

im hoping we get another crack at governing yhilin at some point, because my only real regret is being unable to do more for the succubus integration. 100% was just way too steep a price on the one from the hat to justify over the other necessities, and i was reduced to only 5% budget at the end of the final investment pass so far :/

    1. Glad you enjoyed playing again!

On difficulty: Did you find the Hidden Port in Ardford to be easy? I was trying to balance that to be as difficult as previous optional sections, and I certainly get a ton of complaints about it.

On music: Fading out the background music was an intentional change, I felt the scene was more dramatic that way.

On characters: You'll get to make a choice about Dari! And glad you like Orilise, I enjoy her evil face too. ^-^

On sexbind: I think it's an important element of the world. As for Simon, the technique was meant to shut down succubi, it's not strong enough for an Incubus King.

On magic: You'll see some divine attacks again, but they'll be gained via the plot, not leveling.

...i laughed when The Return of the Dreaded Red Spider Sprite came up though because i panicked at first. it was like "oh, shit, this is going to be evil." so i set up as much defense and debilitation as possible...only for it to die outright in one hit. nice bait and switch. the Horrible Death Spiders haven't levelled up since Stineford.

    3. or potentially Aram instead. Or both. whether intentionally or unintentionally, not everyone is going to have been able to dissuade aram from attacking yhilin. or at least i think that's how it goes. i can't check the border consequences right now, since wikia isn't working for me.

either way, the emperor seems unusually motivated right now. it almost seems as if in his own twisted, insane, evil way he actually cares that his subjects were assaulted. that, plus finally giving iris the go-ahead she's been waiting years for...it's going to get pretty interesting. god only knows how many seeds she has, though it seems like the giant crystals from chapter 2 were the only ones at that level at least. "Dargai" can't be everywhere at once, so eliminating all of them is likely to be improbable at best.

...im still amused that Simon's alter egos keep getting named without his consent or approval by the orcs. "Operation Doomed King" becomes "The Doom King", "Dark Guy" (why dark guy anyway? is it the black clothes?) becomes "Dargai". Very funny.

    4. Ginasta isn't dumb, her fears are actually rather realistic. She just isn't gifted in seeing long term, that we don't know her past and she has lived through many Shard holders so as to have a predisposition in her belief.

Had Ginasta been the Mc, and we lived through the abuse of shard holders, seen the effects on the people more directly, then met Simon, well I doubt we'd trust everything he said.

  29. Thinking about it, it seems likely to me that the Incubus Emperor is a Chosen with a Shard. His getting infected like that could be why the chosen we captured and imprisoned died for no visible reason: a built-in fail-safe for if they might be infected again.

    ReplyDelete
  30. plausible. especially considering the way they act. both the IE and chosen are self-centered to the point of appearing erratic to others, arrogant to the point of brashness, seem dense to the point of randomness, and have far more power than they probably deserve.

plus, ralke confirms chosenism isn't restricted to only humans, so a chosen incubus king isn't out of the question.

it would be cool if we get to fight with ralke like we did orcent at some point and he can use heroic blow/assault/aura. get a temporary party of orcent/stark/impaler/ralke to go do something.

    2. I have no doubt you will. Based on certain comments from yourself and others, the game is at most about halfway to the end credits, and it's been consistently a high quality experience.

Catching up to the current "waiting room" took me 28 hours of play. That kind of meticulous dedication to content and detail isn't the sort of thing that just abruptly stops midway through.

I will say that the early parts of the game might be a little TOO blunt though. Mostly pre-Stineford. Certain people may not be able to take the game as seriously as it deserves.

...and then they meet the spiders :P

    3. We're past half way, actually. I'll say more about the scope of the game once we finish chapter three. But yes, I hope to keep steadily updating through the end. ^-^

The beginning of the game being too blunt may be fair. Right now I'm focused on creating new content, but when I finish this chapter, I will dedicate a little time to reworking things and adding some visual quality, so I'll replay then and perhaps reconsider some choices.

  32. Guys, I have to say, the Last Sovereign is amazing. I started playing it with some reservation. (I got to end of chapter 1 a long time ago, so redoing all of it was a bit boring), but once I got the new part I was hooked. Like, I don’t particularly care for the sex scenes, but the plot is most certainly drawing me in. I ended up pulling an all nighter during the weekend just because I didn’t want to stop.

I don’t know if you respond to this thread, or even care for suggestions (I always imagined developers simply can’t bother with them, since there’s so many threads to respond to), but just in case, I will mention some things I think should be said.

    1. The Map you have for the continent is great! But it’s such a shame we only ever see a small part of it, and only in Eustrin. It would be amazing to be able to check it earlier, in its entire glory. Maybe have it as an item, or some sort of war table in the palace? I think it would help people comprehend the political situation if they had a map available earlier, for casual viewing.
    2. Will we ever get a different way to get custom equipment, or get at least some return on our investments in chapter 3 so we can buy the relevant shop? I never invested in it earlier (always seemed like the money would be better spent elsewhere…), and now it keeps taunting me to buy it, but I’m still sitting on measly 40k PRoN after visting ardoheim…
    3. Would it be possible to have an option in menu to “Skip party buff animations?” I don’t want to skip all of them, since they offer valuable battle info, but we really don’t need to see the buffing skills all the time…
    4. Would it be ever possible to get slightly more battle feedback during the Doomed King invasion – especially when deciding on what to do when we have to choose between Rescuing The Party and Holding Position, when in regard of Qum and Carina? While I’m all for keeping the player in the dark as for choice consequences, this one really seems to be handled poorly, since in 2/3 cases one choice is clearly superior, and your commanders should realize it, and advice you on the right course of action. Hell, Simon himself should know what’s better here, and make the decision on his own, as long as they enemy formation isn’t “Mixed”. The player himself on the other hand is offered little information there, and if they’re not following the guide it’s basically an invitation to screw themselves over. This is the only case when this happens – every other decision in that battle is based on calculated tradeoffs, so no decision is entirely bad, merely slightly less optimal than others. Just not this one.

Anyway, that’s it for my complaining. Allow to reiterate that the game is amazing, and I got really immersed into the world, and can’t wait for the next update. All of your stuff is top notch, so I hope you never stop developing.

Keep up the good work guys.

    ~ Rein

PS: Also, personal favorites, in no particular order:
Trin – I have a soft spot for Tsunderes.
Dominated Varia – something about her becoming the perfect war tool is so god damn sexy…
Janine – The Queen really deserves better!
    Daria – she amuses me.
Carina – she grew up on me. Nice to see someone have some restraint here, and her interaction with Nalili is amazing.
Andra – she might have a shit personality, but that character artwork is just too good to pass on! Let us fuch her already, damn it! :D

PS2: The only story development I didn’t like was Robin confessing to Simon… I really enjoyed that there was at least one character that wasn’t interested sexually in the hero. And while the plot was handled well… It makes me think that the Shard is subtly manipulating everyone around the user to have them lust after him, even changing their memories to help them justify it.

But I digress. But I already wrote more than I planned. Take care!

    2. Also it's a porn game, and the whole "son/daughter but not really" thing is a legitimate fetish that people have. It's nearly as scandalous as incest, but without (most of) the creepy hangups. I don't generally go in for that myself, but I like Robin, thought that they handled it in a mature and measured manner suitable to both of their personalities, and more to the point the on-demand scenes are HOT. Still prefer Orilise though.

    3. Hello, glad you've enjoyed the game! I try to reply wherever I can, though of course I have to balance a ton of different suggestions.

      1) This is my intent! I hope to add the official map in a variety of appropriate places at the same time I make a set of other visual improvements to the game.

      2) You'll get both another chance and other ways starting in chapter four. Generally speaking, things that have been limited like stores and investments will be opened up a little more starting next chapter.

      3) Wouldn't be plausible to implement only removing some animations, sorry.

      4) I acknowledge that this one was a little opaque. My intent was that the prior dialogue describing the state of the army would imply whether or not having the healing base intact would be necessary, but I recognize it might be unreasonable to expect that specific train of logic.

Re Robin: Don't worry, there will be more female characters not sexually interested in Simon.

Anyway, I don't want to stop making games either, so I hope you keep enjoying what I create!

    4. Ikorus: I know people like Incest, so I always knew there was a high possibility we’d end up fucking Robin. I just always hoped the game would go in a different way, defying the trope.

I’m not mad about it. It was handled well. Just slightly disappointed, but that is a minor complaint in what is an ocean of excellence.

Sierra Lee: Hi! Thanks for finding the time for responding! Again, I really admire all the work and thought you put into the game.

      1. Cool! Hope it happens sooner rather than later.
      2. Ah, great! I love the way different investments affect the area of possibilities we have! It’s just this one case (the custom equipment thing) that’s really hurting me…
      3. That’s what I assumed. Ah well!
      4. I’m afraid I didn’t get that impression at all. Since the outcome is based on the enemy spread rather than causalities suffered so far, I assumed the main factor is whether or not a risk exist that the Healing base will be attacked by a concentered force – if they enemy is spread, they might surround them, so evacuating them is a superior choice. If the enemy is concentrated, it is unlikely they will commit into splitting themselves, so you can easily just reinforce their position.
But a case could be made the other way around, as your own formation mimics that of the enemy. If your own forces are split, it’s easy for you to commit some of them into guarding the healing station, as it doesn’t extend the front significantly. If your own forces are concerted, then it would be better to evacuate them and relocate them behind the main lines, as you can’t afford to extend the frontline.
Different cases can be made here, but I understand that it’s pointless arguing about the reasoning. However, I’m afraid I still believe that the information offered to the player is not sufficient to make an informed decision, especially given the binary outcome of it – it would be less of an issue if it was merely a matter of different bonuses, but as it really is a significant swing in points based on making the “right” choice. The players really could use some light prodding into what is the right decision, at least in my opinion.

But again, it’s basically the only thing I found slightly annoying in was otherwise was an excellent game.

And just to sweet talk you a little more (Because I know all artist love being praised :D)
      1. The orc plotline is amazing. I’ve been following the guide religiously to prioritize all the best options for making the orcs smarter - It’s literally creating a new sentient race on the continent! I can’t wait to see what the long lasting consequences of that will be!
      2. Janine plotline has been handled really well. You really can see her slowly falling in love with Simon. I really enjoyed watching it!
      3. Megail & Min plotline is so adorable! Really, nothing more to say here. Love seeing them two together.

And that’s just the things that merely stand out the most to me. But I’ve wasted enough of your time already. Take care!

    4. Behave yourself! She doesn't owe you anything, not to mention she answered your question already. Can't find it? Well too bad, I can find it just fine, exactly where she said it is. Next time, try harder yourself or grow the fuck up.

    7. That would be "DumpOnYou-help" thank you very much and shit happens when you act like a dick. Treat people with kind words, this will happen less often. You know, like adults are used to do among themselves, if they don't wanna anger anyone. Also, I have every right to be upset by your comment the same way people are upset by things happening around them even though they might not affect them directly. Haven't you seen that yet or what? It's pretty common human behavior.
